HCRIW College Library (Digital)
The library is equipped with journals, periodicals, and books including facilities for reaching e-books to serve the student community. The library has a collection of 13632 books, journals, and e-Books for the benefit of the students and the faculty. Facilities for accessing online journals under CeRA Consortium for e-resources are available for staff, students, and research scholars. New Library was inaugurated on 5th December 2017 (expanded with funding from the Government of Tamil Nadu) and it was constructed for 3.86 Crore. The library building is a two-floor structure with a carpet area of 16800 Sq.ft situated at the center of the campus and accessible to all. The library is open from Monday to Friday 8.15 am to 6.00 pm (Saturday 8.15 am to 2.00 pm except 2nd Saturday) and closed on all Sundays and Government holidays. To enhance and enrich the knowledge of the students and scientists, a well-equipped modern Library is available with a total collection of 14154 textbooks, which include back volumes, reference books, etc., Necessary steps have been initiated for accessing online journals in the CeRA (Consortium for e-recourse in Agriculture) of National Agricultural Innovation Programme.
HCRIW Computer Center
The computer laboratory/center is provided with desktop computers for educational purposes with WiFi connectivity. English language software is installed on all the computers for developing spoken English skills. All the computers are linked with the server which is kept in a separate room. This center is equipped with 15 desktops computers, printers, and high-speed internet / Wi-Fi connectivity.
HCRIW Sports
Playground facilities with 400 m track, basketball, volleyball, ball badminton, handball, shuttle court, and kho-kho ground are available for the students to excel in sports and maintain their physique. The fitness center with multi-gym and other gym equipment in the hostel helps in ensuring the good health of the students. The institute creates a healthy atmosphere by providing required sports facilities and yoga training. Playground with track and field, two shuttle courts, one basketball court, two volleyball courts, one Kho-Kho, and one ball badminton, which are commonly shared by HC&RI (W) and ADAC&RI. The institute consists of a students’ cafeteria with a carpet area of 65m2. This refreshes the students and injects new energy for continuous learning.
HCRIW National Cadet Corps
An NCC unit was started in Horticultural College & Research Institute for Women, Trichy on 04.10.2018 with 17 cadets under an NCC caretaker. Train the students to obtain B & C certificates in N.C.C., besides enabling them to attend several N.C.C. Camps. The college also undertakes courses on Yoga for Human Excellence to maintain the proper physical health of the students.
A rally on Water conservation was conducted on 22.03.2019.
Cleaning of the Kattalai canal in Navalur Kuttapattu was done by NCC cadets on 22.03.2019.
A painting competition was organized for NCC cadets.
HCRIW National Service Scheme
NSS activities are carried out as a registered course in the UG degree program for the first four semesters. The NSS activities include regular activities and special camp activities. It is aimed to develop students’ personalities through community service and inculcate social welfare in students and provide service to society. NSS volunteers work to ensure that needy people get help to enhance their standard of living and lead a life of dignity. Volunteers learn from village people how to lead a good life despite a scarcity of resources. This college has one NSS unit comprising I and II-year students and has no NCC unit. The NSS program is split into Regular activities and Special camp activities.
HCRIW Hostels
Adequate hostel facilities for girl students are available with required amenities including separate dining halls. Students’ hostel contains 108 rooms with insect-proof windows, individual cots, wardrobes, and study tables for a comfortable stay. The hostel has a modernized kitchen and dining hall. The students are accessible with 24 hours RO drinking water facility and Wi-Fi connectivity. A common reading room, fitness center, TV hall, music instruments room, and sick room are also available. The reading room has English and Tamil dailies. An incinerator is installed for waste disposal. Visitors' lobbies with separate restrooms are available.
HCRIW Health Centre
A four bedded facility health facility is functioning on campus. The unit is supported by a full-time medical officer, pharmacist, staff nurse, and two nursing assistants. A health card has been prepared for monitoring the health status of the hostellers. The health center on campus is equipped with essential medical facilities to meet the basic medical requirements. Besides, a Jeep is spared along with a driver to commute students to the city hospitals any time during the night hours when the on-campus health center remains closed.
The Placement Cell of the Horticultural College and Research Institute for Women conducts regular Group Discussion sessions and Mock Interviews besides arranging Personality Development Workshops for enhancing the Soft Skills of the students to enable them to perform better in Campus Recruitment. Under ICAR Development Grant, the Placement Cell of HC&RI(W), purchased pertinent books on Soft Skills and Personality Development to the tune of Rs. 75,000, and various Competitive Magazines and periodicals are subscribed to the tune of Rs. 14,000 to enhance the Skillsets and Competitive Edge of the students in Competitive Examinations.
