Facilities and Infrastructure

IIT Bhilai boasts outstanding infrastructure, featuring well-furnished hostels, a cafeteria, and a medical center. The campus provides separate hostels for male and female students, along with modernized IT infrastructure, significantly contributing to overall student development.

Residential Accommodation:

As a fully residential institute, IIT Bhilai has dedicated hostels for both genders, including Castle Ena and Castle Dio on the campus. These hostels can house approximately 80 girls and 450 male students as full-time residents. The facilities include spacious dining halls, well-equipped recreational areas, indoor game spaces, and a health center. The entire hostel is Wi-Fi enabled, with LAN connections in individual student rooms. Additional amenities consist of RO-based drinking water systems and heavy-duty washing machines on each floor.

Library Facilities:

The Central Library at IIT Bhilai is well-equipped with modern resources, encompassing printed and electronic materials such as CD-ROMs, DVD-ROMs, online databases, books, journals, magazines, and reports.  In addition to standard and reference books, the library has procured various scholastic e-resources from IEEE Explore, SciFinder, AMS, APS, MathSciNet, JSTOR, ASME, ACS, Wiley Journals, Emerald Insight, ACM Digital Library, World Ebook Library, South Asia Archive, and Current Science. 

The library's collection comprises around 5700+ books, and it subscribes to several newspapers and magazines. Utilizing KOHA open-source software for book circulation, an OPAC-based total system allows users to track library resources.

Labs Facilities:

IIT Bhilai provides state-of-the-art facilities for students to acquire various engineering skills. The Electrical Engineering lab, for example, features remote monitoring and control capabilities, enabling students to work on projects and gain hands-on training in problem-solving and technical competence. 

Medical Facilities:

The IIT Bhilai ensures 24/7 medical facilities for students and staff, complemented by a fully equipped ambulance on campus for emergency medical assistance.  Collaborations with nearby hospitals guarantee comprehensive medical care, and all individuals receive the utmost care.

Sports Facilities:

IIT Bhilai actively encourages student participation in diverse sports events, including the Prayatna festival during the winter semester, promoting sports as a key component of holistic development.  The festival spans two and a half months, featuring teams competing in various indoor and outdoor games. Additionally, IIT Bhilai participates in the Inter-IIT Impact League alongside inter-institute games.
