IISER Tirupati is the sixth Institute in the chain of IISERs established by the Govt. of India under the Ministry of Education for imparting quality education in basic sciences and for setting up state-of-the-art research facilities for frontline and cutting-edge research in science. Academic activity at IISER Tirupati commenced in August 2015 in the spacious transit campus.

IISER Infrastructure and Facilities
IISER Teaching Facilities
We have well-furnished classrooms equipped with computers, internet, projector, and LCD displays for a high level of teaching and learning. Our teaching labs are well equipped for performing experiments. We have multiple copies of sophisticated equipment of international standards. In chemistry department, the two UG labs are well equipped with all basic instruments such as fume hoods, Schlenk lines, rotary evaporators, analytical balances, PH meters etc. to conduct both modern and classical experiments. Similarly, Biology has sophisticated instruments for student training. Our Physics laboratory has high-end equipment like Scanning Tunnelling Microscope, X-Ray Diffraction, Millikan’s oil drop experiment, Photo-electric effect, Zeeman effect, Michelson interferometer, Speed of light detection, etc., to list a few.

Networking Facilities
The components of the 1 Gigabit backbone Network are:
Gigabit Core switch;
Gigabit Network edge switch;
Wireless controller;
Wi-Fi 6 enabled wireless access points;

WPA2 Enterprise security.
IISER VoIP Infrastructure.
Robust three-tier network spanning across the campus for connectivity to desktops/laptops across laboratories and offices. Access to all facilities virtually to researchers on the move through VPN services and member of the EDUROAM international network, in addition to point-to-point connectivity for optimal utility of scientific resources. a Seamless dual band campus wide Wi-Fi (2.4 GHz & 5 GHz) access network with adherence to 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac standards. Centrally controlled light weight Wi-Fi access points with wireless LAN controller catering to all buildings in the campus.
IISER Computing Facilities
Connectivity: – The first interconnect is on Mellanox InfiniBand EDR (100Gbps), a low latency network for DATA. The second interconnect is based on a 24 port HPE managed GigE Switch for Network connectivity between nodes. The third interconnect is based on a 24 port HPE managed GigE Switch for the Console network.
Software: – Open source and commercial software are installed in the commonplace such the way access by all the users.

Our computer lab is powered by more than 100 Nos. of Computer terminals which are all running with GNU/Linux Operating System.
IISER Software’s
Bio render, Schrodinger, MATLAB, Mathematica, Origin, Endnote, ChemDraw and Open Source Sofwares like Gaussian, Gromacs, Open MPI etc.
IISER Day Care
The daycare facility in the transit campus of IISER Tirupati is located in the ground floor of the Student‘s building (B Block) and is open to children of all IISER employees and students. Guests at IISER Tirupati may also avail daycare facilities at the institute with prior intimation (see contacts below). Children from the age of 6 months onwards may join the daycare.The daycare facility is fully air-conditioned and is currently equipped with baby mattresses, colorful small chairs and tables, toys, children‘s books and indoor play equipment. A small kitchenette containing a fridge, microwave oven, and a wash-basin has been organized. Rest-rooms and the student‘s mess facility are conveniently located on the ground floor.
IISER Hostel
IISER Tirupati is having facilities in the Transit Campus for senior students of BS-MS and for I.PhD and PhD and hostels in the permanent campus for BS-MS students. At present seats are available on twin sharing/ triple sharing basis in Transit Campus and Permanent Campus. The building has 4 floors. Each floor has 46 rooms (in total 184). All rooms are equipped with furniture (i,e cot, mattress,study tables, chairs, pedestals, and almirahs). Drinking water and washing machine facilities are provided on each floor. All bathrooms are connected with hot water facility for bathing purpose. In the ground floor, we have a Gym, a room for music practice and indoor games, well-furnished study room, a TV Hall, a wellness clinic, a modern kitchen and a spacious dining hall.
Additionally, there is also 24×7 security services separately for Girls and Boys to take care of the students in addition to Hostel Managers.
IISER Gymnasium
We have a well-equipped gym on the campus. The facilities include both Cardio and Strength exercises. In the Cardio room, we have treadmills, spin bikes. In the Strength section, we have equipment such as dumbbells of different weights, barbells, plates, bars, bench-press, chest-press, leg-press, leg-extension, leg-curling, lat-pulley rowing, decline benches, and lat pull-down machine, to list a few. Considering the hot climate of Tirupati, our gym is fully air-conditioned. We also have a trainer for newcomers. The help of the training person can be obtained in the morning and also in the evening. The gym facility and the training are absolutely free of charge for the students, staff and faculty.
IISER Guest House
The facilities are available in transit campus and new Guest House is under construction at permanent campus.
IISER G. N. Ramachandran Library
G. N. Ramachandran Library of IISER Tirupati started functioning from August 2015 to meet the learning, teaching and research needs of the students, faculty and staff of the Institute. It aims to provide knowledge and services for building excellent communities in the scientific world and for promoting each individual to get success in their R&D activities with well-established Library facilities.The Library houses a good collection of textbooks, general books and reference books such as encyclopaedia, dictionaries, laboratory manuals etc. Library using Koha open source Integrated Library System for its acquisition and circulation activities.
To be a technology-based, research-driven Institute of Excellence in the realm of the Basic Sciences in which the instructional process at all levels of education that it offers is seamlessly inter-mixed and integrated with the undertaking of state-of-art research.
To foster an atmosphere of intellectual excitement among the faculty, staff, and the greater institute community with a view to creating talent capable of catering to the nation’s needs in various areas of the basic sciences by providing a broad range of courses at the integrated undergraduate-postgraduate level with the goal of producing innovative, creative graduates who are well-prepared for their chosen careers in a global society.
