Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is a public technical university located in Hauz Khas in South Delhi, Delhi, India. It is one of the oldest Indian Institutes of Technology in India. Established in 1961, was formally inaugurated in August 1961 by Prof. Humayun Kabir, Minister of Scientific Research & Cultural Affairs. First admissions were made in 1961.[5] The current campus has an area of 320 acres (or 1.3 km2) and is bounded by the Sri Aurobindo Marg on the east, the Jawaharlal Nehru University Complex on the west, the National Council of Educational Research and Training on the south, and the New Ring Road on the north, and flanked by Qutub Minar and the Hauz Khas monuments.
Indian Institute of Technology Delhi is set up in 1961 as the College of Engineering. The campus spread over an area of 325 acres. These alumni nowadays work as scientists, technologists, commercial enterprise managers, and entrepreneurs. Numerous alumni moved far from their authentic disciplines and feature taken to administrative services, lively politics, or are with NGOs. In doing so, they've contributed appreciably to the construction of this nation and industrialization across the world.
IITD has 19 Centers of Excellence, four of which are set up by IIT Delhi, eight are industry-sponsored, and seven are funded through sponsored projects. IIT Delhi is thought for its collaborations which consist of 30 countries wide and 108 global energetic MoUs. IITD is extending its barriers with one extension campus being set up at Sonepat and every other one quickly developing in Jhajjar, Haryana.
The institute is accredited by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC), and the National Board of Accreditation (NBA). IIT Delhi was ranked 185 in the QS World University Rankings of 2022 and 54 in the QS Engineering and Technology subject rankings of 2021 The same ranking ranked it 43 in Asia in 2020 and 18 among BRICS nations in 2019 It was ranked 401 - 500 in the world according to the Times Higher Education World University rankings in 2020, 67 in Asia and 38 in the Emerging Economies University rankings in 2020.
IIT Delhi has been ranked #1 among government engineering colleges in India by India Today in 2020. It was ranked second among engineering schools by Outlook India in 2019 and first by The Week in 2019. It was ranked second among engineering colleges by the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) in 2020 and 2021. It ranked third and fourth overall among universities in 2020 and 2021 respectively. The Department of Management Studies ranked 8th among management schools in India by NIRF in 2020, and 17th by Business Today's "India's best B-schools 2019".

IIT Delhi offers a diverse range of undergraduate (UG), postgraduate (PG), and Ph.D. programs across various disciplines. The flagship course at IIT Delhi is the Bachelor of Technology (BTech), which attracts numerous aspiring students. Residential Accommodation:
The campus has well-furnished, clean, and air-conditioned hostels. The Institute has a total number of 14 hostels, 11 for boys and three for girls. The boys’ hostels are Nilgiri, Karakoram, Aravali, Jwalamukhi, Satpura, Zanskar, Kumaon, Vindyachal, Shivalik, Girnar and Udaigir and girls hostel in Kailash and Himadri Hostels. The campus facilities like the indoor game, reading room, and 24* power backup. they have also provided mess facilities with hygienic food.
Library:
The campus has a well-maintained and air-conditioned library. They have well-stocked books subscribed to 690 current journals and a rich collection of books on Science and Technology 1.94 lakh books, 1.03 bound volumes of journals, more than 26,000 standards, and more than 2,200 microfilms 2,261+. The campus has also incorporated video cassettes, CDs, and online electronic journals.
Auditorium:
The campus has a big seminar hall well furnished, clean and air conditioner. They are equipped with an LCD Projector and Audio System. The Seminar Hall organized seminars and organized lectures for the students.
Sports Facilities:
The campus has provided sports facilities like volleyball and basketball courts, athletic tracks, a swimming pool, weightlifting and taekwondo auditoriums, badminton, and tennis for students.
Cafe/Mess Facility:
The campus has a cafeteria. There are many shops, such as Amul, Lipton, Nescafe, and Cafe Coffee Day in the campus area.

The admission process at IIT Delhi is highly competitive and rigorous. For the BTech program, candidates are admitted based on their performance in the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Advanced and subsequent JoSAA counselling. Similar entrance exams such as GATE, IIT JAM, CEED, and CAT are conducted for admission to different PG programs. Ph.D. admissions are based on GATE or NET entrance merit. The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi offer Scholarships for UG and PG level which is based on the financial situation of the students or their academic performances, Institute Merit-cum-Means Scholarships - Offered Rs 1,000 per month and tuition fee exemption, Open for 25% of students admitted under UG level in Engineering & Technology stream, Parental income must not exceed INR 50 lakh, Institute Merit Prizes, and Certificates - Offered one-time award of INR 2,500, Given to top 7% of students of each four-year B. Tech and five-year dual degree.
Institute Free Studentship (UG)- Open for 10% of students admitted, Given based on income alone. SC/ST/PwD Student Scholarship Tuition Waiver Offered and More benefits, given to SC/ST/PwD students regardless of parent/guardian income. Donor scholarships are offered through grants received from various individuals, trusts, and organizations.
PG Programmes Scholarship for Masters students offered INR 1,000 per month and tuition fee waiver, Open for 25% of students admitted to the M.Sc. program, Parental income must not exceed INR 4.5 lakh. Scholarship for M.Tech, MS (Research), and M.Des students - Fellowships and scholarships instituted by industries and individuals are offered. IIT Delhi has an excellent placement record, with top companies and organizations actively recruiting its graduates. The institute's strong industry connections and dedicated placement cell ensure a wide range of job opportunities for students. The Indian Institute of Technology placement season for the 2023 batch commenced in December 2022, and the institute received a record-breaking 1300 placement offers. The highest package offered during the phase one placement was INR 4 Crores per annum, reflecting the high employability of IIT Delhi graduates.
