IGIMS was established on 19th November 1983, as an autonomous organization on the pattern of All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi. The objective was to provide super specialty medical facilities in Bihar. On 27th January 1983 Cabinet approved the completion of this massive project in 4 phases within a span of six (6) years. According to the decision of the State Government, 130.20 Acres of land were transferred to IGIMS.

The college always aims to give quality education with state-of-the-art research facility. Also, to rationalize and update technologically sound the infrastructure of the college, to give Diploma, Bachelor's, PG in Pharmaceutical Sciences, to develop national and international collaboration, etc. Bihar College of Pharmacy is strictly based on the merit and entrance examination conducted by the college.

Library: 

The College has a fully-equipped library with a wide variety of books for everyone to read.

Hostel: 

There are separate well-furnished hostels for boys and girls. The hostels have all the facilities for the comfort of students.

Cafeteria:

A cafeteria is present on campus for the students to hang out. It provides good quality hygienic food at a reasonable price.

Laboratories: 

IGIMS Patna has well-equipped laboratories with all facilities to provide the students with an excellent practical learning experience

Placements:

IGIMS Patna offers internship and job opportunities at the institute itself. MBBS students are provided with paid internships with a stipend of INR 20,000. PG students are recruited by the institute with a salary of INR 75,000 per month. The placement drives are not conducted on campus. However, candidates can get a job in any reputed hospital or institute as IGIMS Patna is one of the most renowned medical institutes. Candidates can also start their own practice and set up their own clinic after the completion of the degree. 

Admissions :

IGIMS Patna Admissions is based on the performance of candidates on Entrance Tests. Admission to MBBS is based on NEET-UG scores and for PG courses candidates need to qualify for NEET-PG.
