Indira Institute of Engineering and Technology was established under the aegis of the Indira Educational and Charitable Trust with the aim of imparting education with cultural values in order to develop students as excellent professionals and responsible citizens. Facilities and Infrastructure

The college library is well equipped, with more than 25,000 technical books and a large number of Indian and Foreign technical journals and periodicals besides a good collection of light reading materials.

The college has a Well fitted and mechanized canteen that offers wholesome vegetarian and non-vegetarian food and the management has taken care to ensure that the highest standards of hygiene are maintained at all times. A water treatment plant has been installed to supply treated purified water. A Canteen supervisory committee operating round the clock oversees all operations from the purchase of provisions/vegetables, food preparation, service, cleaning of vessels and utensils, etc to ensure cleanliness.

The college transportation is offered to students and staff from Thiruvallur station to college and back, the buses operating as per a fixed schedule. The institutions employ a number of trained mechanics and the buses are subject to regular scheduled preventive maintenance servicing to avoid any mishaps. The measure of their efficiency is reflected by the fact that not a single breakdown was reported in the last six months' operations. Air-conditioned coaches are available to senior faculty members of the cadre of readers and above.

The college auditorium is spacious, well-ventilated, and fitted with audio-visual teaching aids that offer an ideal ambiance for educational pursuits.

The Training & Placement Cell interacts with organizations of repute all over the country for arranging campus interviews for the placement of final-year students. It makes efforts to send the students for in-plant training to enhance their technical skills and to have industrial exposure. Training and Placement cell counsels final-year students for their higher studies.
