Institute of Bioinformatics And Biotechnology was established in 2002 at the Savitribai Phule Pune University under the University with Potential for Excellence (UPE) grant of the University Grants Commission with Professor Dileep Deobagkar as the Founder Director. Eligibility: Candidates who have passed the 10+2 (or equivalent) examination with the Science stream (Physics, Chemistry, Biology) are eligible to apply. They should have a minimum of 50% marks (45% for reserved categories) in their qualifying examination.

Entrance Exam: IBB conducts an entrance examination for admission to its undergraduate courses. The examination consists of multiple-choice questions from Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and Mathematics.

Merit List: Based on the performance in the entrance examination, a merit list is prepared. The candidates are then called for counseling, where they can choose their preferred course based on their rank.

Postgraduate Admission:

For postgraduate courses, IBB offers a Master of Science (M.Sc.) degree in Biotechnology and Bioinformatics. The admission process for these courses is as follows:
