On the occasion of the 125th Foundation Year Celebration of Midnapore College (Estd. 1873), the Governing Body of the College formed a Society, styled as Midnapore Education and Service Society for the spread of legal, professional education, etc. The Society was registered in 2001 (Rgn. No. S/IL/588 of 2000-2001). State Govt. granted 15.5 acres of land on Long Term Lease basis to the Society in 2001. On the same campus one B.Ed. A college named Midnapore Institute of Education was established. Institute of Education, Medinipur is a private institute. The institute is under the aegis of the Indian Centre for Advancement of Research and Education (ICARE). The institute offers Bachelor of Education course. The total intake for admission to the B.Ed Course is 100. The program study center for two-year distance courses under Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) has also been established at the Institute of Education. The college offers education courses with the help of highly qualified faculty.

The Midnapore Institute of Education, a self-financing BEd College was founded in 2004 on the advice of Professor Satya Sadhan Chakraborty, the Hon’ble Minister of Higher Education, Govt. of West Bengal. A Govt. Order was issued bearing No 118-Edn (CS) dated 03.03.2004 addressed to the Registrar, Vidyasagar University to make an inspection and grant affiliation to Midnapore Institute of Education. But the University did nothing in the matter for six years.

One standard playground has been provided on sharing basis with Midnapore Law College for outdoor games and sports. One good ladies' hostel has been provided on sharing basis with Midnapore Law College. Indoor games facilities have been provided inside the buildings of the Institution.
