IHE, New Delhi Admission Process

Admissions to admission to the Institute of Home Economics in 2024 will mostly depend on the results of the Common University Entrance Test (CUET) conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) for undergraduate (UG) and postgraduate (PG) programs. To be eligible for admission to UG courses applicants must pass the CUET UG examination, whereas postgraduate applicants must take the CUET PG exam. It is important to note that beginning with 2024's academic year in 2024, this Delhi University Entrance Test (DUET) for admissions to PG courses is no longer valid. Instead, admission into Ph.D. programs will be determined by the performance of the applicant in the entrance test conducted through Delhi University.

After the results of CUET are released Candidates who are eligible should submit their applications through the admissions portal at Delhi University accessible at admission.uod.ac.in and apply for both UG as well as PG programs. In addition, they need to declare their college and program preference. Allocating seats to UG admissions will be done via the Common Seat Allocation System (CSAS) portal, whereas PG admissions will be determined depending on the merit list that the institute has released for entrance-based and merit-based admissions.

For admissions to PG, half of the seats will be allocated according to the merits of those who pass the qualifying exam. This merit-based system is only for those who have completed their bachelor's degrees at Delhi University. The remaining 50 percent of seats are filled according to the candidates' performance in the CUET PG exam. In addition, the Institute of Home Economics reserves 50 percent of its seats for applicants from the categories of SC/ST/OBC/EWS.

Institute of Home Economics Undergraduate Admission 2024

IHE is pleased to welcome students interested in its Undergraduate Programs. They span three years of study. The programs are also offered in honors-based mode, allowing an extensive educational experience. The primary requirement for admission is the passing of the 10-plus-2 class-level board exam. Selection is made through CUET scores, which are followed by e-counseling.

Institute of Home Economics The UG Selection Process

Candidates who are applying to UG classes in the Institute of Home Economics (IHE) must pass the Common University Entrance Test (CUET). The final selection is made based on the online counseling which is administered by Delhi University, considering CUET scores. The CUET exam is split into three parts:

  1. languages: Section A contains 13 different languages like Bengali, English, Gujarati, Hindi, and more. Section B is comprised of 20 languages, which include French, Spanish, German, Nepali, Persian, and more. Candidates must speak at least one of the languages for admission.

  2. Domain-specific: There are 27 domain-specific subjects within this section. Candidates should consult the specific program eligibility requirements for choosing domain-specific subjects.

  3. General Exam: The general test is required for all UG program that is offered by the institution where it is utilized to determine admission. Candidates should consult the specific program requirements for obtaining general tests.

For UG courses offered by the Institute of Home Economics, candidates should follow these steps in order to register for the CUET Exams:

Institute of Home Economics Admission to PG 2024

IHE provides students the opportunity to take part in the M.Sc. program through an entrance exam which is conducted through Delhi University or based on merit scores from an undergraduate degree. The number of seats available for M.Sc. courses is 23. The specializations are Food Nutrition and Fabric Apparel and Designing.

Institute of Home Economics Eligibility Criteria for PG

The primary eligibility requirement to be admitted to the M.Sc. program is the completion of the B.Sc. with a minimum of 55 percent marks overall. Candidates must have taken three subjects from the specified list comprising Fabric and Apparel Science, Indian Textile Heritage, Design Concepts, and much more.

Institute of Home Economics the PG Selection Process

Candidates are eligible to enroll in the M.Sc. course on the basis of the merits of their scores, provided they are able to score a minimum of 60% marks on graduation. In addition, applicants can gain admission by passing an entrance exam that is conducted through Delhi University.

Institute of Home Economics Ph.D. Admission 2024

IHE provides admission to the 3 year Ph.D. course based on an entrance exam administered through Delhi University. The areas of specialization comprise Food and Nutrition, Human Development and Development, Clothing and Apparel Science, Resource Management and Design Applications, and Development Communication and Extension.

Institute of Home Economics Ph.D. Eligibility Criteria

Candidates must have passed the 10+2 exam with a minimum of 50% marks. an M.Phil or equivalent program in Delhi University or a recognized equivalent university.

Common Seat Allocation System (CSAS) Admission Process 2024

Delhi University has introduced the Common Seat Allocation System (CSAS) for admission to UG courses in all colleges affiliated with it. The procedure includes:

Phase I: CSAS Applications Form

• Complete a CSAS application form through the centralized admission portal, after paying the application fee.

• ECA and sports quota applicants are required to pay an additional cost.

Phase 2. Selection of Courses and Preferences for College

• Once CUET results are announced qualified candidates are able to select courses and colleges through the CSAS portal.

Stage 3: Seat Allocation, Final Admission, and End of Day

These lists of merit are determined by the CUET scores.

The multiple rounds of allocation of seats are held.

• Candidates must take the seat they are allocated within the deadline.

Seat allocation is based on the mix of the college and the program and the position of the candidate on the merit lists, class, and availability of seats.
