JNN College of Engineering is marked by events that have made it synonymous with quality education. Established in 1980 by NES, the College is affiliated with Visvesvaraya Technological University, Belagavi, recognized by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and the Government of Karnataka. JNNCE is a flagship Institute of the National Education Society (NES), established by freedom fighters and philanthropists like Sri. H. S. Rudrappa, Sri. S. V. Krishna Murthy Rao, Sri.S. R. Nagappa Setty and Sri. D. S. Sports

Jawaharlal Nehru National College OF Engineering (JNNCE), Shimoga Sports Physical Education and Sports was started in the year 1980. JNNCE sports department aims at the all-round development of the student’s personality through sports activities. Presently the department has 7 staff. It has required infrastructure to enhance the sports activities like - in-door sports, facility, out-door sports facilities, and other facilities. The sports department actively organises Inter department sports activities & Annual Sports Day sports events. It takes pride in successfully organizing VTU and inter-collegiate sports activities as per the VTU Sports calendar. State of art sports facilities is provided that makes the department in hosting selection, training and practice sessions for college teams. Sports events for faculty at college & inter-collegiate levels are also organized by the physical education department.

Transportation

Jawaharlal Nehru National College OF Engineering (JNNCE), Shimoga fleet of 35 college buses is at the disposal of the students for every transportation need they may have, ranging from daily shuttle service to and from college for the day students. Medical Centre

Jawaharlal Nehru National College OF Engineering (JNNCE), Shimoga Medical Centre was established to take care of the medical needs of the staff and students of the college. Medical Centre provides general and preventative health care to our students and staff members at free of cost. Services of the medical practitioner are available to the students & staff as per the following timing:4.00 PM  to  5.00 PM.

Guest House

Jawaharlal Nehru National College OF Engineering (JNNCE), Shimoga, we have furnished a guest house inside our campus premises. The Guest House is primarily meant to accommodate official guests such as the members of selection committees, boards of studies, examiners, experts for viva-voce for Research programs, Resource persons coming from other places for seminars/workshops/ conferences/training programmes organized by the college, selection panel visiting for campus placement and any other official guests visiting the college. In addition to the guest house, we have guest rooms in the campus Hostel for the benefit of parents, alumni, and participants attending sports events/cultural events/seminars/workshops/ conferences/training programmes organized by the college. Placement

Jawaharlal Nehru National College OF Engineering (JNNCE), Shimoga placement cell also organises training on aptitude, personality development, GD, communication English, mock tests, interviews and various placement drives. Training enhancement activities like workshops, seminars, technical talks, soft skills training by experts, aptitude training, and alumni interaction are also conducted. The cell also provides career guidance on M.Tech, M.S, UPSC exams, GRE, TOEFL, etc. For the SIMS Indore placement drive, recruiters are invited to the campus. Some of the recruiters of the institute are Nokia, Mindtree, Tech Mahindra, TCS, Godrej, Infosys, Wipro, Dell, IBM, Chegg India Pvt Ltd, and Capgemini to name a few. According to the JNNCE placement report (from the official website), Rs. 7 LPA is the highest package offered to the candidates in the year 2021. As per the college placement statistics for UG and PG programmes, out of 942 eligible candidates, 287 have been placed in the year 2020. The institute placement cell also provides internship assistance to the student.

JNNCE Placement Procedure

1. JNNCE placement cell sends invitations to the companies for on-campus recruitment.

2. Interested recruiters contact the placement cell with the job description.

3. Students’ databases are shared with the company as per the requirements.

4. With mutual consent, dates of pre-placement talks and final placement are decided.

5. Companies conduct their screening process to select candidates.

6. Selected students are issued offer letters.

Admission 

Jawaharlal Nehru National College OF Engineering (JNNCE), Shimoga offers admission to the undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. For JNNCE admission to the B.E programme, candidates have to appear for COMEDK UGET/KCET. Cutoff and rank are released after the declaration of the result. Candidates meeting the cutoff appear for COMEDK UGET/KCET counselling. As per the JNNCE admission process for the M.Tech, M.B.A and M.C.A. programmes, candidates have to appear for Karnataka PGCET. However, GATE-qualified candidates are exempted from the entrance test. Candidates meeting the cutoff have to appear for Karnataka PGCET counselling for seat allotment. GATE/university-level entrance test is considered for admission to the M.Sc. programme. According to the JNNCE admission procedure for the PhD programme, candidates have to appear for the ULRA test. Qualified candidates have to further appear for a personal interview. UGC/UGC-CSIR JRF/SLET/CAT/GATE/NET/M. Phil candidates are exempted from the entrance test. Candidates are selected based on the merit list, prepared based on the marks of the entrance test, personal interview and qualifying exam in the ratio of 25:25:50. Finally, for JNNCE admission, candidates have to submit the documents and pay the fees.
