The College was established as Nagarjuna Sagar Engineering College in 1965 by the Government of Telangana. When the college was under the administrative control of the Department of Technical Education, it was affiliated to Osmania University, Hyderabad. With the formation of Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University on 2nd October 1972, it became a constituent college of the University and was later renamed as JNTU College of Engineering, Hyderabad. From its inception in 1965 to 1984, the College was located at Masab Tank Campus. In 1984, the College was shifted to its permanent location at Kukatpally, a 100 acres site, about 20 km from the heart of the City, on Bombay National Highway (NH-9).
The College was founded under the name of Nagarjuna Sagar Engineering College in 1965 by the Government of Telangana. The college was then under the control by the Department of Technical Education, it was affiliated with Osmania University, Hyderabad. When the institution was established of Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University on 2 October 1972, it was made a constituent college of the university and was later changed to JNTU College of Engineering, Hyderabad. From the time it was established from 1965 until 1984 the College was located in the Masab Tank Campus. Then, in 1984 the college was moved to its current site at Kukatpally which is a 100-acre site that is about 20 kilometers away from the center of the City situated on Bombay National Highway (NH-9).
JNTUH College of Engineering, Hyderabad is affiliated to Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University Hyderabad and endorsed and approved All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) Ministry of HRD, New Delhi.
JNTUH College of Engineering, Hyderabad course are available at different levels, including undergraduate degree i.e. Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech.) for Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech.) Chemical Engineering etc,Postgradaute Degree i.e Master of Technology (M.Tech.) within Electrical Power System, Master of Technology (M.Tech.) in Thermal Engineering and more. Library
The College Library was established in 1965. With the College and University growth the Library has grown too. It has increased to the number of 30,000 volumes and 70 journal. In 2004, the College Library was merged with University Library and renamed as University Library, a central library for all units that comprise Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, Hyderabad.
Digital library established in the 1st floor of the college library building, with 50 computers in the year 2016. The Library collection includes Books for reference, Textbooks News papers, Print Journals E-Journals, e-books, and e Journals.
Hostels
The school currently has four hostel blocks. Two specifically for males and one girls. Hostels are able to accommodate around 820 girls and 575 boys. Hostels have the best facilities to meet the needs of students.
Sports and Recreation
The college is equipped with facilities for games and sports. It has facilities for playing Cricket, Football, Table Tennis as well as other games. Running tracks are also accessible. There is a multi-gym on the campus.
Other facilities
Other facilities include other facilities include an Auditorium, Guest House, Bank staff Quarters Canteen and medical facilities that have a doctors who are certified and dispensaries.
