Jorhat Engineering College, a premiere technical institute of North East India has completed its 60 years of relentless service to the society. The college started functioning with its first batch of students in Civil Engineering on the 10th of October, 1960. The college, affiliated to Assam Science and Technology University, currently offers AICTE-recognized B. Tech courses on Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, Computer Science and Instrumentation and M.Tech courses in Civil and Electrical Engineering. The college has been offering a two year postgraduate course leading to Masters of Computer Applications since 1987.

Facilities and Infrastructure

Library:

The Jorhat Engineering College Central Library was established in 1960 along with its college establishment year. The main objective of the library is to disseminate knowledge among its esteemed users through circulating the resources of the library.  The library is located in the attached administrative building of the college with an area of 328.19 sq. meters on the ground floor. The library has a reading room facility with a capacity of 20-person seating arrangement at a time. The library has a total collection of 24,576 volumes of books on different subjects.

Cultural Facilities:

For organizing different cultural activities, the college has an Auditorium with 700 sitting capacity. The auditorium is equipped with all the modern facilities like central air conditioning, a back-up power system, a wi-fi facility, in built modern sound system, a stage light, and a stage Projector.

Hostels: 

The Institute has 10 hostels for its students separately for boys and girls. The hostel has hygienic dining and cooking areas for students concerning their health, libraries, and wifi connectivity in every corner of the hostel for academic growth.

Medical:

In case of a medical emergency, the students are taken to Jorhat Medical College which is situated 5 km away from the campus.

Guest House: 

The Institute is also enriched with a guesthouse for the college's guests, parents or guardians of students, relatives of employees, alumni, new faculty members, or guests appointed by the Authority.

JEC Scholarship

Being a government-based Institution, every year the scholarship in the Institute is given on the various criteria viz. 1- Post Matric Scholarship to OBC students, 2- Post Matric Scholarship to ST(Plain) students 3- Technological and Engineering Scholarship 4- MERIT-CUM-MEANS Scholarship.

Placements

The placement cell of Jorhat Engineering College, not only works for the cent percent placements of the students but also provides three internships for every student in four years. Some of the prominent organizations like PWD, Indian Railway, NRL, BRPL, BCPL, BSNL, NEEPCO, ONGC, ASTC, PWD(Assam), Airport Authority of India, OIL, IOCL, etc. help students to experience industry exposure with their summer or winter internships.
