Jorhat Institute of Science and Technology,  JIST is a premier and unique institute of Assam located in Sotai, Jorhat district of Assam. It used to be a science college established in 1971 as a college teaching core subjects namely Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics.

Jorhat Institute of Science and Technology is affiliated to Assam University of Science and Technology. The college is approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE).

Central Library 

The library is the heart of the institution. It aims to provide users with quality information and useful resources. The college has a well-equipped library called Central Library, JIST which has a good selection and selection of collections. It has a total of 13,441 volumes of books on Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Instrumental Engineering, English Literature, Assamese Language, Sociology and Humanities to meet the subject specific requirements of students and faculty. Other important books like dictionary, encyclopedias, scientific magazines and volumes and several monthly newspapers are also available in the library. The library subscribes to monthly newspapers like -India Today, Outlook, Prantik, Gariyoshi, Poyobhara etc. Magazines like Science Reporter, Electronics For You, Kurukshetra, and SainikSamasar. In addition to print journals, the library subscribes to e-journals such as J Gate e-Journal, which is  available online to faculty and students and is primarily for engineering, technology and research. 

Hostels 

Hostels are available in campus for both male and female students. There is one hostel for girls and two hostels for boys. In the university hostel, different room options are available, for example one, two or three students can fit in one room. Each student is provided with a bed, table, chair and plug. Students in the  hostel get 24-hour running water  in bathrooms, toilets and electricity. The fairgrounds are organized and maintained by the students themselves, and each hostel has its own cooking facilities, kitchen and dining room. Cleanliness and hygiene are taken care of by a sufficient number of  hostel support staff. Both indoor and outdoor games are available for the hostel students to refresh themselves. 

Internet Facility

The campus and all  hostels and faculty facilities are connected with LAN and wireless internet provided by NKN India. 

Health center 

The university has a doctor (currently vacant), a nurse, a pharmacy and a first aid pharmacy to provide first aid. 

Placement 

JIST Training and Internship Unit is an elite faculty/student initiated association  interested in training successful engineers and experts. Since its inception in 2011, this unit has continuously strived to bridge the gap between industry and academia. The main objective of the cell is to develop and serve working engineers, industrial, educational and technical associations by providing professional expertise through consultancy work. Solu highly values industrial training opportunities for students and always tries to recruit students  by finding the best fit for their needs and skills. Also, the cell has made serious efforts to improve the quality of students by organizing motivational talks, seminars, workshops etc. through the best/available experts.
