J. T. Mahajan College of Engineering Admission Process

Government Seats:
Admissions for government quota seats will be conducted according to the schedule announced by the Directorate of Technical Education, Mumbai (Maharashtra State) periodically. Prospective students are advised to refer to the Directorate of Technical Education's website, dte.maharashtra.gov.in / State CET Cell.

Institute Level Seats:
Candidates applying for these seats must initially apply to the Competent Authority, who will compile a Merit List of all applicants. This list will enable institutions to offer admissions based on inter-se merit, as prescribed by the appropriate authority. After applying to the Competent Authority, candidates must then apply to the respective institution for admission at the institute level. Admissions will be granted by the institution based on inter-se merit from the Merit List prepared by the Competent Authority. It is mandatory to apply to the Competent Authority to be eligible for admission under this quota.

Seats after CAP Round:
The admission process for seats remaining vacant after the CAP round and Institute Level round will be conducted separately. All relevant admission details for Institute / Minority candidates will be posted on the college notice board as required. The principal of the institute will announce the availability of institute-level seats through advertisements in leading newspapers. Eligible candidates meeting the specified criteria should apply directly to the Principal. These seats will be filled strictly on an inter-se merit basis at the institute level. This Admission Process is in accordance with the directives of the Maharashtra State Directorate of Technical Education (DTE) / State CET Cell.

J. T. Mahajan College of Engineering Eligibility Criteria

Eligibility Criteria for First-Year Engineering:

For Maharashtra State Candidates and Outside Maharashtra State Candidates: Candidates must be Indian Nationals. They should have passed the HSC or its equivalent examination with Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects along with one of the following subjects: Chemistry, Biotechnology, Biology, Technical Vocational, Computer Science, Information Technology, Informatics Practices, Agriculture, Engineering Graphics, or Business Studies, with a minimum of 45% marks (40% for Backward class categories, Economically Weaker Section, and Persons with Disability candidates from Maharashtra State only) in aggregate in the above subjects. Candidates must have appeared in all subjects in MHT-CET 2023 and obtained a non-zero score, or They should have passed a Diploma in Engineering and Technology with at least 45% marks (40% for Backward class categories, Economically Weaker Section, and Persons with Disability candidates from Maharashtra State only) and obtained a score in MHT-CET conducted by the Competent Authority.

For All India Candidature Candidates, Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, and Union Territory of Ladakh Migrant Candidature Candidates: Candidates must fulfill the same eligibility criteria as Maharashtra State Candidates. They should also obtain a non-zero positive score in JEE Main (B.E/B.Tech) or MHT-CET 2023. Preference will be given to candidates with a non-zero positive score in JEE Main(B.E/B.Tech). Or, they should have passed a Diploma in Engineering and Technology with at least 45% marks (40% for Backward class categories, Economically Weaker Sections, and Persons with Disability candidates from Maharashtra State only) and obtained a score in MHT-CET or JEE Main Paper I. For NRI / OCI / PIO, Children of Indian workers in the Gulf countries, Foreign Nationals: Candidates must have passed the HSC or its equivalent examination with Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects along with one of the specified subjects, with a minimum of 45% marks in aggregate. They must also satisfy any other criterion declared by the appropriate authority as defined under the Act.

Eligibility Criteria for Direct Second Year Engineering:

Passed Diploma Course in Engineering and Technology with at least 45% marks (40% for candidates of backward class categories, Economically Weaker Section, and Persons with Disability belonging to Maharashtra State only) in appropriate branch of Engineering and Technology from an All India Council for Technical Education or Central or State Government approved Institution or its equivalent. Or, passed Degree from a University Grants Commission (UGC) or Association of Indian Universities recognized University with at least 45% marks (40% for candidates of Backward class categories, Economically Weaker Section, and Persons with Disability belonging to Maharashtra State only) and passed HSC with Mathematics as a subject. Students in this category must clear the subjects of Engineering Graphics/ Engineering Drawing and Engineering Mechanics of the first-year Engineering Program along with second-year subjects. In case of any additional requirements such as bridge courses, they may be conducted as deemed necessary. For both First Year and Direct Second Year Engineering, candidates are advised to refer to the website of DTE Maharashtra Website/ cetcell.mahacet.org for detailed information and the latest updates.

Please note that the following documents/certificates in original along with 5 sets of attested photocopies and 5 passport-size color photographs are mandatory for submission at the time of admission:

• MHTCET / JEE Main Paper 1 Mark sheet issued by the Entrance Exam Authority / FC receipt cum acknowledgment / ARC Letter.

• SSC Mark sheet issued by the Secondary and Higher Secondary Board.

• HSC Mark sheet issued by the Secondary and Higher Secondary Board / Diploma Mark sheet / Passing Certificate for Direct Second Year admissions.

• Leaving Certificate or Transfer Certificate issued by the School/College.

• Passing Certificate of HSC issued by the Technical Examination Board.

• Certificate of Date of Birth, if not mentioned in the school or institute Leaving certificate.

• Domicile certificate of the father/mother, where applicable.

• Certificate of Indian Nationality.

• Migration Certificate for OMS candidates.

• Affidavit regarding any gap in education (if applicable) on stamp paper of Rs.50/- duly attested by an Executive Magistrate.

• Caste Certificate (except for General category candidates) issued by an Executive Magistrate.

• Caste Validity Certificate (except for General category candidates) issued by the Director/Deputy Director, Tribe Scrutiny Committee of the respective region.

• Non-Creamy Layer Certificate valid up to 31st March (for OBC, VJ/DT - NT(A), NT(B), NT(C), NT(D), SBC) issued by the Sub Divisional Officer, Deputy Collector / Collector of the District.

• Requisite certificate from the competent Authorities in the case of candidates claiming to be the children of Armed Forces personnel transferred to Maharashtra state, along with the transfer order of the father.

• Transfer order in the case of children of Central government employees.

• Certificate in the case of a candidate claiming to be the son/daughter of a freedom fighter, or their spouse, child, adopted child, stepchild, or grandchild (child of a predeceased son of a freedom fighter).

• Prescribed certificate of physical handicap (if applicable).

• Prescribed certificate of participation in Inter-institutional sports, Games, debates, elocution, and Drama competitions.

• Medical certificate of physical fitness.
