K.G. Joshi College of Arts & N.G. Bedekar College of Commerce was the first institution of higher learning to be established in Thane City in 1969. Strategically located, the college is within walking distance from Thane Railway Station on the Central Railway line. It is well connected by bus services to every part of the city including Navi Mumbai. The College received permanent affiliation, in January 1988 with effect from June 1982. The college was reaccredited by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC), Banglore, and awarded an ‘A’ grade in January 2011 (2nd cycle) and subsequently awarded an ‘A’ grade in November 2016 during the 3rd cycle. The College is one of the Community Colleges of the University of Mumbai and has got the Best College Award of the University of Mumbai (2011-12). The College is also ISO 9001-2015 Certified.

Library:

The library of Joshi-Bedekar College, the fountain of knowledge and inspiration, enjoys the reputation of being one of the best Learning Resource centers in the vicinity of Mumbai. The library was established in 1969 with the very inception of the college. The library is situated on the second floor of the commerce building and is made easily accessible from all sides of the college premises. It has a carpet area of about 12000 Sq.Ft. A complete catalog of the library holdings has been created by using Koha, Integrated Library Management Software. On average 1000 books per day are circulated to the readers from the Home lending section, Reading Hall, and reference section of the library. The students extensively use Library Reading Hall and around 350 students are availing this facility.

Sports:

The college has Ground/Court (Football, Basketball, Volleyball, Kabaddi, Kho-kho), Indoor Games (Chess, Table-Tennis, Carom), Gymnasium (Bodybuilding), The College provides trainers, equipment and organizes Zonal sports competitions in collaboration with the University of Mumbai. Due to support and encouragement given by the College students have reached University, State, National, and International levels in Badminton, Athletics, etc

I.T Infrastructure:

The College has a well-designed air-conditioned computer laboratory with LCD facilities. Every student has access to a computer with software designed according to the syllabus. Practicals are conducted under the supervision of trained IT and Computer staff.

Cafeteria:

The college has a Centralized canteen facility with adequate space and furniture is available to cater to the needs of over 200 people at a time

Auditorium:

The college has Five state-of-the-art auditoriums for academic and recreational activities available on campus. All the auditoriums are connected to the campus network and a video conference facility is provided.
