It was established in the year 1968 and located far from the throngs of people and in peaceful, tranquil, and serene surroundings that resemble the Shanti-Niketan. Kalpana Chawla Govt Polytechnic for Women, Ambala City is located near the Session House and just 3 kilometers. from the main bus station. It is the earliest and most prestigious Women's Polytechnic among the only three women-only polytechnics located in Haryana. It was created to help improve the women's section of society. Laboratories

The Institute is well-equipped laboratories with the right equipment to provide the latest practical information to students. Five computers are available with more than 200 computers connected via broadband and lease lime connectivity with 128 Kbps.

The Institute has two hostels with a capacity of 300 boarders, which are furnished with furniture. There is currently a huge demand for a place in the women's hostel. There are only 400 girls housed on the ground floor and first floors that have the latest amenities. Nine more rooms to accommodate 27 girls are being built under the World Bank project. The dining area room, indoor games, guest room, telephone, etc. is located within the Hostel.

Achieved a pass in the 10th or 12th exam at the Board of school education, Haryana or equivalent examinations from a recognized board or university. Candidates must have completed English, Maths and Science as mandatory subjects.
