There was a school with less than a hundred children on the northern bank of the river Palar in the fertile village called Athur where people are known for their industriousness. The village itself is on the State Highway connecting Kancheepuram to Chengalpattu. The school was then run by the Ramakrishna Mission which decided to close the school and move to Chennai, then called Madras. The people of the village, more importantly, Sri. Athur R. Srinivasa Lyer wanted the school to continue to benefit the children of Athur and neighboring villages. At this point, Sri O.V. Alagesan former Union Minister who lived nearby in Chengalpattu stepped in and offered to run the school. This was in the year 1958. This also happened to be the year when Sri. M. Bhaktavatsalam, the former Chief Minister attained the age of 60. Sri Alagesan who had always been an admirer of the quietly efficient ways of Sri. M. Bhaktavatsalam wanted to do something which will perpetuate the memory of the latter, who by himself was a self-effusive person. Therefore, he named the School Bhaktavatsalam Sashtiaptapoorthy High School and founded a Trust to run the school, and named it 'The Bhaktavatsalam Educational Trust. Thus, the Bhaktavatsalam Educational Trust was born on September 15, 1958. The computer lab is available with an adequate number of (15) computers and printers. Each and every computer is having a multimedia presentation facility. A qualified computer instructor is also appointed.

Sports and games

Spacious playgrounds with facilities like football, basketball, volleyball, badminton, and indoor games are available for the students to pursue their interest in games.

It is placed in a spacious room with modern equipment. Apparatus and chemicals are adequate.

Psychology

More than 30 experiments are available. Tools to measure various variables and factors are also made available. There are 40 paper pencil tools made available.

Biological Science Laboratory

It is placed in a spacious room with models like., Human anatomy, animal and bird species, and spots are also displayed. These features certainly motivate the learners.

Class Rooms

There are 9 classrooms (for optional subjects) measuring 300 sq. ft, which are adequately available with boards, lights, fans, furniture, and proper Ventilation. Four rooms with 1680 and 1632 sq. feet for common class and seminar Hall are made available on the First floor /. The classrooms are highly modernized and have a conducive classroom climate. Principal Room, Correspondent Room, and office Room: These rooms are well furnished with an executive look.
