Karnataka State Akkamahadevi Women's University formerly known as Karnataka State Women's University, established in 2003 in the city of Vijayapura (Formerly Bijapur), is the only Women's University in Karnataka dedicated exclusively for women's education. It is recognized under 2(f) and 12(B) of the UGC Act. It has been accredited 'B'grade by NAAC.
Karnataka State Akkamahadevi Women's University is a well-known and reputable educational institution within the state. It is situated within Bijapur, Karnataka, and is the first institution in the state exclusively dedicated to women's education. This was the reason why the Government of Karnataka established the university in 2003. Additionally, this Karnataka State Women's University offers numerous UG and PG courses, as well as Certificate and diploma courses across a variety of areas.
Karnataka State Akkamahadevi Women's University's principal goal is to offer an education to women within the State and to encourage their growth and growth. The university has 137 faculties that fall under their affiliation with Karnataka State Women's University, situated in 13 districts in the State. KSWU places a high value on the innovation and creativity, research and academic achievements of women.
Karnataka State Women's University campus covers 286 acres and offers numerous facilities for students to develop across all areas. The university also includes laboratories, a library as well as an IT centre as well as an internet and sports facility as well. The campus is just 10 km from the city, and the campus is referred to as "Jnanashakti". Furthermore, the overall infrastructure of the campus is undergoing a continuous improvement program that aims to provide the most efficient facilities to students.
Karnataka State Women's approved by (UGC) University Grants Commission has endorsed the university, as well. NAAC, NCTE and AIU have also recognized the institution with a Grade B.
The university offers a range of UG and PG programs in departmental departments like humanities, sociology sciences and technology, science and more. Along with a variety of Diploma and certificate courses. KSWU is also recognized by DEC and offers a variety of courses via distance learning all over India as well as abroad.
Library
The university has an extensive collection of journals and books. Furthermore, the latest books are regularly updated to make it easier for students. KSWU is home to over 80,000 books. it also has a huge assortment of newspapers. The library also utilizes its IT Centre. Information Technology allows students to access numerous online resources as well as databases to download ebooks and electronic journals.
Furthermore, students can benefit from other services in the library such as printing, making photocopies and other similar services. Akkamahadevi University provides the student's access to INFILIBNET for free which allows students to access online resources on their campus at any time in the time.
Other facilities
Akkamahadevi University is home to an athletic complex that has facilities for a variety of sports, both outdoor and indoor. KSWU has a volleyball field and Kho-Kho tennis courts, a cricket field basketball court and a Standard 400 Meters Track, and a Kabaddi ground too.
The school also has an exercise centre where an instructor who is certified helps students with different equipment. In addition, the instructor is part of the Department of Physical Education and students can access the gym anytime.
In addition, there is some equipment available in the gym that are 8 stations. There are chrome dumbbells Olympian barbells, magnetic cycles magnetic bicycles, motorized treadmills, and manual treadmills, in addition to many others.
In addition, there is the Media Centre which is called the state-of-the-art Jnanavahini". It is composed of the Journalism and Mass Communication department. The Media Centre has various equipment to record radio and television programs, as well as shooting.
Students broadcast an information channel that is known as the "Akka TV'. They also concentrate on the school newsletter and an electronic paper known as 'Mahiladhwani'.
Furthermore, Akkamahadevi University has a list of study centres in which they offer a wide range of certificate programs. Most of the courses are connected to Indian History and concentrate on the many concepts and teachings that are associated with Indian culture.
The study centres include Mundaragi Shri. Jagadguru Annadaneeshwara Sharana Literature and Cultural Studies Chair, Bhaskaracharya Chair, Gandhi Studies Centre, Maulana Azad Centre, Swami Vivekananda Centre, Kanakadasa Studies Centre and Dr B R Ambedkar Centre.
The scholarship is awarded in accordance with a variety of different factors and allocations are mostly given to minorities who cannot afford the tuition fees for their education. There is an instance, a social welfare department which allows students who earn less than INR 2.5 Lakhs annually are eligible in the event that they can provide their caste and income proof as proof.
