Kempegowda Institute of Medical Sciences (KIMS), Bangalore was established in the year 1980 by the Vokkaligara Sangha and is affiliated to the Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Bangalore, Karnataka.KIMS is recognized by the Medical Council of India/National Medical Commission (MCI/NMC) permanently for running MBBS Courses since 1980-81 and also running Post-graduate degree/diploma courses in various disciplines since 1991-92.

KIMS Facilities

KIMS Library

The KIMS Library was established in 1981 when the College started functioning. Year after year it has made steady progress and has grown into a collection of 21,500 Medical Books & 10,150 bound volumes with subscriptions to 145 periodicals yearly on various Medical subjects. There is also a library in the hospital complex to cater to the clinical departments with a seating capacity of 100 there are 4,600 books available in this library. Both the central library and the hospital library have in addition a digital library with internet facilities. In addition to the above, all departments have a department library of their own. The library is open from 8:30 am to 9:00 pm on all working days. Xerox facilities are available in both libraries. There are also reading rooms for the students to bring in their own reading material to study.

KIMS HOSTELS

There are two separate hostels at present, one for the boys and another for the girls. The boys' and girls' hostels are located on the Institute campus at Banashankari and can accommodate about 200 students each. Student Welfare Officers and Wardens are always available to students and interns to lend a patient ear to all their problems related to curricular activities and to provide suitable remedies.

KIMS Mens Hostel

The Men’s Hostel has 83 rooms and is located in the Banashankari Campus adjacent to KIMS Pre-clinical  Block, Bangalore 560070.  The rooms are well furnished and each room accommodates 2 – 3 persons.  The hostel has mess facilities serving both vegetarian and non-vegetarian food.    There is a round-the-clock vigil provided through a professional security agency and the visitors are screened and allowed inside.  There is a manager in the hostel to attend to the problems of the inmates. There is a general control and discipline in the hostel and the inmates are not allowed to be away unauthorisedly in the night hours.   The current monthly charge per person is about Rs.2,000/- which includes food and accommodation.  At the time of admission, an amount of Rs. 27,500/- is charged,  of which Rs.15,000/- is refundable at the time of leaving the hostel.  A Senior  Professor is the Warden and he is responsible for the day-to-day administration.  For further details contact manager/warden: Tel.No.(080) 26919704  From 10.00 AM – 5.00 PM.

KIMS Ladies Hostel

The Lady's Hostel has 83 rooms and is located in Banashankari Campus adjacent to KIMS Pre-clinical  Block, Bangalore-70.  The rooms are well furnished and each room accommodates 2 – 3 persons.  The hostel has mess facilities serving both Vegetarian and Non-vegetarian food.  There is a guest room facility in the hostel for visiting parents of students to stay for a short duration.  There is an internet facility with a broadband connection in the hostel.  There is a round-the-clock vigil provided through a professional security agency and the visitors are screened and allowed inside.  There is a resident manager in the hostel to attend to the problems of the inmates around the clock.  There is a general control and discipline in the hostel and the inmates are not allowed to be away unauthorisedly in the night hours.  There is an own book reading room facility. KIMS TRANSPORT

Bus

There are five buses including one minibus and two Maruthi vans available for the Transportation of students to and from the Banashankari campus to the Hospital premises and to transport them to various training centers.

KIMS SPORTS / GYM

The college has a fully equipped health club with a 10 Station Multi-Gym, two TreadMills and Steppers, and a Trained Instructor. The Health Club is open to all students of KIMS from 6:00 AM to 8:00 PM. Indoor Games like Chess, Carrom, and Table tennis are also available. The New Sports Complex coming up will house two Synthetic Tennis Courts, Basketball and Volleyball Courts, and an Amphitheatre.

KIMS CO-OPERATIVE SOCIETY

The KIMS Co-Operative Society was started in the year 1981. It caters to the needs of students and staff in their requirement of books, stationary and other articles at concessional prices. All students of KIMS and teaching faculty members are shareholders of the society. The board of directors of the society consists of teaching faculty as well as students.

KIMS CANTEEN

The Hospital Canteen Sri Nidhi Sagar caters to the need of Faculty, Students, and staff at KIMS Hospital. A new canteen with modern amenities is open at the college campus.

KIMS BANK/ATM

Punjab National Bank

Punjab National Bank is situated on the college campus to cater to the banking need of the students. ATM facilities are available. ATMs of Corporation Bank, Canara Bank, State Bank of India, HDFC Bank, and Axis Bank are situated surrounding the college premises. Syndicate Bank, BIT Branch caters to the need of students on the Hospital premises.
