IT Facilities

All the faculty members and students have good access to computers. A separate computer lab with a full-time internet facility has been established exclusively for the use of students. A computer facility is also available in the office for administrative and other office-related work. All the computers in the College of Forestry network have round-the-clock connectivity through the Internet. Wi-Fi connectivity is available in the College. The College of Forestry is also linked with the KAU headquarters and other sister organizations within the KAU main campus at Vellanikkara through the PABX system.

Hostel accommodation with mess facilities is provided for boys. Periyar, the boy's hostel, has a good reading room and indoor game facilities and is just a stone’s throw away from the college.

Hostel accommodation with mess facilities is provided for girls. The girl students reside in the ladies' hostel (Pampa) of the College of Horticulture within the main campus. A separate ladies' Hostel (Nila) near the College is provided for the PG students.

The college has a separate library block of 250 m2 area. It houses 6500 titles related to forestry science. The library is manned by one Library Assistant and one helper. One faculty is in charge of the college library. The availability and accessibility of a rich collection of knowledge resources in forestry make the college library an important reference point for students and researchers. The entire collection is cataloged and an index of the same is available in digital form. A database of all the books and other documents in the College library has been created using the CDS/ISIS program of UNESCO. The entire resources in the library can be accessed through the open-source Library information system KOHA. The College is connected with the University library with CeRA. All the faculties and students have round-the-clock online access.

A fully air-conditioned seminar hall with a seating capacity of 100 persons and equipped fully with modern audio-visual aids and projection systems is another academic facility of the college. The seminar hall is being widely used for conducting various functions and meetings of other colleges on the campus also.

The college has well-equipped laboratories. In addition to UG and PG laboratories, separate laboratories for biochemical work, silviculture, agroforestry, biotechnology, tree physiology, tree propagation, tree tissue culture, mensuration, wood quality testing, wood anatomy, seed technology, forest management, wildlife science,  etc. have been established. In addition, a central instrumentation facility is also available. Laboratories have the most modern equipment such as the Plant Water Status Console, Leaf Area Meter, Data Logger, Radiation Sensors, Plant Canopy Analyzer, Laminar Flow, Sound Level Meter, UV Spectrophotometer, Flame Photometer, Precision Balances, Portable Photosynthetic system, Continuous flow analyzer, Automatic Nitrogen Analyzer, Wood Microtome, Programmable Biofreezers, Digital Vernier Calipers, Lux Meter, Image Analyser, TDS Meter, Densitometere, Electrophoresis unit, etc.

Facilities for sports and games include 12 stations multi gym, a basketball court with a pressure release ring, and indoor facilities for table tennis. These facilities are used regularly by both students and faculty.

The college has produced many outstanding sports personalities notable amongst which is Kum. Anisha Siddhik of the 2004 batch who has won three gold medals and has been selected as the best female athlete of 2006 in the 7th all-India Sports and Games meet held at MPAUT, Udaipur. She has also won one gold medal each in the all-India agricultural university sports meet held at PAU, Ludhiana in 2007 and MPKV, Rahuri in 2008.

Placement Cell

A placement-cum-training cell is functioning in the college under the guidance of a placement officer. Biodata of the graduates and post-graduates are collected and sent to needy entrepreneurs and companies for placement. A series of seminars and training is being conducted under the auspices of this cell to train and equip the students for campus recruitment. A good number of students have secured fellowships and placements in different parts of the country and abroad utilizing this facility. Presently, Mr.Muhammed Iqbal, Assistant Professor is the placement officer.
