KIIT School of Mechanical Engineering, Bhubaneswar, Orissa, was established to meet the expeditiously changing needs of the industry that demands new skills. The school got academic self-governing power in the year 1997, its own campus in the year 2006 and school status in the year 2009. It has an atmosphere and specialized labs for research and development. Not only postgraduate but also undergraduate students gets a chance to get involved in high-end research work to construct skills that surpass the curriculum. The aim and objective of the college are to prepare students for their professional careers and entrepreneurship and to facilitate students to make use of their basic technical knowledge and artistry in Mechanical engineering, to understand and solve problems.
KIIT School of Mechanical Engineering is amongst the top-rated departments at KIIT University leading in student placements, achievements, research projects, collaborations, technology incubation and entrepreneurship. The school houses four different streams, i.e. Mechanical, Aerospace, Mechatronics and Automobile. The undergraduate courses are designed keeping in view the evolution, and requirements of the industry. The school is also among the top few schools in India that attracts meritorious students from all over the world. The students, here get a platform to showcase their talents to a global audience, with foreign student exchange programs and internships. The school currently offers an optional open elective, honours as well as minor courses based on a credit system for those interested in interdisciplinary programs. KIIT School of Mechanical Engineering is approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and Accredited by the National Assessment & Accreditation Council (NAAC), Govt. of India. It is affiliated with the Kalinga Insitute of Industrial Technology.
