Premier Institute in Engineering & Technology was established in 1983 by a group of visionary industrialists, professionals, and educationalists. The vast exposure and experience of its founders have helped Kolhapur Institute of Technology’s College of Engineering Kolhapur to establish its identity as an Institute of repute in the field of Engineering and Management education. The first among the self-financed engineering college in Maharashtra.

The Institute has been awarded “A Grade Status with CGPA 3.12” by The National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC), Bengaluru. Institute has successfully received accreditation for six departments (Civil Engineering, Computer Science & Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and Production Engineering) by the National Board of Accreditation (NBA), New Delhi, which is Govt. a body for the accreditation of programs in institutes.

The Institute has also received Permanent Affiliation from Shivaji University Kolhapur and has received Autonomous status. Residential Accommodations:

KIT is a residential college with a hostel facility for boys and girls separately. KIT boys hostel is a multistorey apartment with the capacity of occupying 300 boys. The admissions are given on first cum first served basis. The hostel is provided with a connected mess facility, computer facility, Wi-Fi, gym, etc. Prof. A.M. Quereshi is the rector, and Mr. Rajan Patil is the warden of the hostel. Ladies' hostel too is a multistorey apartment with the capacity of occupying 120 girls and all the facilities mentioned above. Mrs. Vinita. S. Mane is working as the rector of the hostel.

Library:

The Central Library serves as the intellectual hub for the institute. It is dedicated to serving as an intellectual and vibrant hub of the Kolhapur Institute of Technology’s College of Engineering (Autonomous) by fully integrating its services with state-of-the-art technologies, thereby ensuring seamless access to its print as well as online collections by blending its creative internal network of human and material resources.

The Library is housed in an aesthetic building which by itself impresses its stakeholders with an intelligent ambiance endowed with scholarly values. The Library is having separate sections namely Reference, Periodical, Circulation, Digital Library, and Book Bank Section for better utilization of its resources.

A rich collection of 19899 Titles and 60272 Volumes of reference and textbooks have been properly classified and arranged for the user community. The library practices an open access policy for the benefit of its stakeholders.

102 Print journals and more than 1300 back volumes of periodicals are available in the periodical section.

Gymkhana:

Along with their curricular developments, for students to be physically fit and to get a chance for developing their sportive skills KIT provides its students with all state-of-the-art gymnastic facilities. All types of sports events are conducted once a year under Annual Sports Event which runs for around one month. Furthermore, along with shouldering the responsibility of arranging sports events under the Shivaji University Lead Colleges Scheme, KIT’s Gymkhana is well equipped even to conduct state/national level sports events too.

Cafe/Mess Facility:

The college canteen provides fresh and healthy food to the employees and students of the college. Proper hygiene and cleanliness are maintained in the canteen. The service of the canteen is available during the working hours of the college. A variety of food is provided by the canteen at reasonable rates.

Admission

For B.Tech, candidates belonging to Maharashtra must compulsorily appear for MHT CET for admission. Candidates belonging to other states are given admission according to the score of MHT CET and JEE Main. However, the score of JEE Main would be preferred over the MHT CET score. Those with or without Biology subjects at the 10+2 level are eligible for admission.

Placements

The Placement Cell operates around the year to facilitate contact between companies and graduates. The Placement details of our students are an indicative factor that the college is having very fruitful and meaningful relations with the industries. We have been successful in maintaining our high placement statistics over the years and the fact that our students have achieved record-breaking placements is a testimony to our quality.
