Kanhaiya Lal Polytechnic was established, on 25th January 1956 by the endless efforts of Shri Rai Sahab Kanhaiya Lal Ji. At the time of its establishment, its name was Kanhaiya Lal Technical Institute (KTI), and only one course, a Diploma in Civil Engineering was started. In 1963, it was upgraded to Kanhaiya Lal Polytechnic, and two other courses, Three Years Diploma in Mechanical (Production) Engineering & Diploma in Electrical Engineering were introduced. Later, Three Years Diplomas in Electronics Engineering (1971), Two Years Post Graduate Diplomas in Computer Applications (PGDCA) (1995), and Three Years Diplomas in Mechanical (Automobile) Engineering (2008) courses were also added to the course list of institute.

The college resource center boasts of an inspiring collection of over 11,500 volumes of resource material which includes textbooks, reference books, project reports, back volumes, CD Rom database,, and Video. Students must present a valid ID card before entering the computer lab
Playing games on the computer in the lab is strictly prohibited
Users are strictly prohibited from downloading, viewing, or distributing any offensive materials
Before leaving the lab, users must close all programs positively and keep the desktop blank. Users are strictly prohibited from modifying or deleting any important files and installing any software or settings on the computer

Hostel Facilities:

Living away from home is not easy. More often than not when someone moves away from home for studies, renting a flat seems like a big task, that’s when people find a decent shelter in hostels. Hostel life in India is only next to Army life, in terms of living. Everyone is on their own yet everyone is dependent on each other. We provide hostel facilities to students who belong to other cities. And provides all the facilities just like a house.

Sports Facilities:

The college encourages all students to participate in sports activities and physical training. A dedicated physical trainer has been appointed for the same. College sends promising students to the training programs conducted by the college. Students also participate in camps, hikes, sports seminars & workshops organized by the College. Selected students participate in sports events conducted up to the district level. The college organizes ‘Sports Week’ every year when a whole lot of events like Karate, Chess, Kho-Kho, Rope Mallakhamb, etc. are conducted. Students are also encouraged to participate in indoor games like Carom, Chess, and Table-tennis. Besides these, emphasis is also given to Yoga and Martial Arts.

For admission to the diploma course candidate must qualify the examination of JEEP conducted by UBTER Uttarakhand After that the candidate attend counseling for admission and then the admission process is based on merit. The candidate will have to submit the option form for the round. If a candidate could not get a seat in the round I, Candidate can apply for round II. If the candidate gets se If the candidate gets a seat in Round I or Round II, the candidate will have to report to the institute for admission. Round III is the counseling round that will be held at the counseling center.
