Kunjali Marakkar School of Marine Engineering (KMSME) started with a precise revelation of creating eminent seafarers who can cope with the demands of the ever-growing shipping industry. It is the only Marine Engineering Training Institute in the country, which is under the direct control of a State Government University. Located in the heart of the Cochin University Campus, KMSME started its first batch of 4 years B-Tech Marine Engineering program in 2003.
The Kunjali Marakkar School of Marine Engineering (KMSME) has embarked on full disclosure to produce outstanding seafarers capable of meeting the demands of the ever-growing marine industry. It is the only marine engineering college in the country that reports directly to a state public high school. Kunjali Marakkar Marine Engineering School, located in the heart of the Cochin University campus, started the first series of 4-year B-Tech Marine Engineering programs in 2003.
The presence of different faculties, which also have their own strong research departments, enables cadets to acquire in-depth knowledge in any desired subject. Currently, Kunjali Marakkar School of Marine Engineering can accommodate 80 students per year who are selected from India through the Common Entrance Examination (CET) conducted by Indian Maritime University (IMU). Students applying for admission to the Kunjali Marakkar School of Marine Engineering are required to register with CUSA.
Kunjali Marakkar School of Marine Engineering is Affiliated with the Cochin University of Science and Technology (CUSAT) and is Approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE).
Kunjali Marakkar School of Marine Engineering offers various courses at Undergraduate and postgraduate levels in multiple streams Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech.) in Marine Engineering, Master of Technology (M.Tech.) in Marine Engineering.
Kunjali Marakkar School of Marine Engineering has a large and well-maintained campus and offers a tranquil learning environment. The buildings are modern and equipped with the latest technology from Kunjali Marakkar School of Marine Engineering, which facilitates teaching and teacher development. The library of Kunjali Marakkar School of Marine Engineering has a good collection of marine engineering and navigational resources including IMO publications and free online journals. The library is partially automated and is one of the best technical and scientific libraries in the field of navigation. As the information center of the college, the library has built up a balanced and extensive collection covering all areas of engineering, natural sciences, and humanities, especially ship technology and shipbuilding. It offers free online access to all foreign electronic journals subscribed to by the college Kunjali Marakkar School of Marine Engineering The library meets the information needs of the school's students and faculty and provides the necessary information support for naval graduates in Kerala and beyond. The library uses open-source KOHA software to automate library work and the school's digital library uses DSpace software.
Hostel:
The campus has its own reception building for men and women. Students do not have to pay any additional accommodation costs as these are included in the course price.
Mess:
In addition to the dormitory building, the campus has its own canteen. Canteen costs are not included in the course price. Students are required to pay RS.3500 per month as a dining fee.
