The KVASU came into existence on 14th June 2010, as per Ordinance number 44/2010 and later Act 3/2011 of the Government of Kerala. The University hence is the product of continuous and genuine pursuit and sustained dreams of many people, who initiated the efforts since the mid-nineties. The establishment is also the result of the recognition of the need to advance animal production sector activities and to widen the arena of academic opportunities, applied research, and entrepreneurship in the field of animal health, production, and allied subjects. The University is a publicly funded University with headquarters at Pookode, Wayanad, and the powers of the University are vested in its authorities –the Management Council and the Board of Management.

During this five and half years video with more than 20 subjects in veterinary science like anatomy, physiology, pathology parasitology, microbiology, biochemistry, surgery, gynecology, etc. Its subject consists of an average of 5 lecturers. Their average age ranges from 30- 55. In order to get into an assistant professor you need to complete MVSc(PG). Most of the professors have postgraduate as well as Ph.D. Most of the lecturers are experienced more than 5 years. They also have various years of practice in the subject field as well as in the treatment and clinic field.

Placement: 

After the course, you can get a placement at various private clinics as well as get a government job through PSC. There are also opportunities for veterinarians in banks, insurance companies, meat production technologies, night vets, etc. During the course, experts from various private clinics teach sessions dealing with the scope of private clinic jobs in small animals, large animals and pet animals, etc. Since this is the only course in India in which less number of students are passed and a limited number of colleges are present there is a campus placement of 100%.
