It came into existence on 27th July 1958 by the Government of A.P. through the initiative of the founder donor Sri Kasireddy Venkata Reddy and it is named after him. K.V.R Govt. College for Women.
It had a humble beginning with just three science groups and four Arts groups and gained momentum in 1998 with the introduction of restructured courses followed by two PG courses namely M.Com Professional and M.Sc. Computers in 2001 and M.Sc.(Chemistry) in 2009-10.

Residential Accommodation
Separate boys and girls' hostels with high security are available on the university campus. Boys and girls have two hostels with WiFi services for UG and PG, which can accommodate around 150 students each with good infrastructure. A well-equipped gymnasium is set up for the students of the hostel to develop the physical abilities of boys and girls.
The Library
The treasury of books and periodicals is the centre of intellectual activity in any institution. The Central Library works for its readers with a concern for creativity and innovation, predecessors of Research and Development. It has a well-equipped library that accumulates over 10,000 volumes of selected books in various engineering, management, and basic and general science subjects.
Canteen
It provides good quality fresh Snacks, cool drinks, coffee, tea, and other food items in a hygienic, healthy way which suits the pockets of the student. It is immaculate and very well maintained.
