The LBS Institute of Technology for Women, Thiruvananthapuram was founded in 2001. This college is the second self-funded engineering college operated by the LBS Center for Science and Technology, Trivandrum (Kerala Government Enterprise). It is affiliated with Kerala University. The university's mission is to establish the institution as a center of excellence that educates highly qualified women engineers in the latest frontiers of science and technology to play a crucial role in the socioeconomic advancement of the national economy.  This engineering school is a unique project of the LBS Science and Technology Center under the auspices of the Kerala Government. 

The college is located in the heart of Thiruvananthapuram city. It is located in Poojappura, about 4 km from KSRTC Main Railway Station and Thiruvananthapuram Bus Station. The nearest airport, Thiruvananthapuram International Airport, is approximately 15 km from the collegial Bahadur Shastri Institute of Technology for Women (LBSITW), Thiruvananthapuram, is the premier engineering school for women in the state of Kerala on the Malabar Coast of South West India.
