About Madras Institute of Technology

The Madras Institute of Technology (MIT) is an esteemed engineering institution situated in Chromepet, Chennai, India. As one of the four autonomous colleges under Anna University, MIT was founded in 1949 by Chinnaswami Rajam, marking its distinction as the country's first self-financing engineering college. Subsequently, it merged with Anna University. Pioneering in its approach, MIT was among the first educational establishments in India to introduce specialized fields like aeronautical engineering, automobile engineering, electronics engineering, and instrumentation technology.
