Mahadevappa Rampure (MR) Medical College - The Government of Karnataka had decided to establish a Medical College at Bellary instead of Gulbarga. Hyderabad Karnataka Education Society under the leadership of Sri Mahadevappa Rampure started a Medical College in the Private sector in 1963. Sri S. Nijalingappa, the then Chief Minister, Govt. of Karnataka, Sri. Veerendra Patil and Dr. D. C. Pavate helped in establishing the Medical College. Medical College was started in 1963 with a mission to bring out quality doctors by imparting quality education to meet the present and changing expectations of the people and improving the health status of the people of this region by offering health care and providing optimum training facilities for Medical students. In 1973, Sri. Mahadevappa Rampure, the architect & founder of the Medical College left for a heavenly abode and to salute his vision, dynamism, and hard work in establishing this College, it was named after him as "Mahadevappa Rampure Medical College".

MRMC Teaching Hospital 

M. R. Medical College has 2 (two) attached Teaching Hospital facilities: Basaveshwar Teaching & General Hospital, Gulbarga, and Sangameshwar Teaching Hospital, Gulbarga

MRMC Central Library 

The library is equipped with all the modern facilities like Computers with an Internet connection, Audio Video facilities, Microfilm readers, MEDLARS, MEDLINE CD-ROM (Silver-Platter), and Photocopy machine. The total Collection of textbooks and references is about 28,272. The College spends about Rs.75 to 85 Lakhs annually to procure new books and about Rs. 25.00 Lakhs annually for subscriptions to various National and International Journals. The College also subscribes to the HELINET of RGUHS which offers about 500 full texts from the E-Journals Library and also provides current Awareness service, Bibliographic service, & Departmental Library Services.

MRMC Pathology LAB

 M.R. Medical College is a four-story building covering 120,000 square feet area and houses various pre and para-clinical departments and also the Department of Medical Education. The emphasis in all the departments is on applied and Clinical aspects of subjects and all Departments of Anatomy, Physiology, Biochemistry, Pathology, Microbiology, Pharmacology, Forensic Medicine are geared to provide hospital services besides teaching and research. Each department is well equipped with modern equipment.

MRMC Campus Environment

The rear section of the College has been beautified by converting it into a garden with a fountain in the center. It serves as a pleasing venue for delegates who come to attend various conferences hosted by the College.

MRMC Sports, Co-Curricular, and Extra-Curricular

The College has a fully operational sports department. There is Indoor Sports Complex with a wooden Badminton court, TT, Chess, Carrom, etc. The students participate in various intercollegiate events organized by the Colleges and universities.

MRMC Hostel Facility

Shri Chandrashekhar Patil Memorial Hostel was built for the accommodation of boys pursuing medical courses at M. R. Medical College, Gulbarga. The Hostel is located in a lush green surrounding on Sedam Road, the main gate facing north.

H.K.E. Society's Medical College hostel was started in 1963 to accommodate the girl students seeking admission to MBBS courses, coming from different parts of the country and abroad.

ADMISSION 

ADMISSION UNDER GENERAL MERIT CATEGORY

The admission under the General merit category will be on the basis of inter se merit ranking in NEET UG. The Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA) will allot seats through the process of centralized counseling. The candidates can refer to www.kea.kar.nic.in for further information.

ADMISSION UNDER NRI QUOTA

The admission under the NRI category is also based on the NEET UG ranking. Foreign nationals are also considered for admission under this quota, once they qualify in NEET UG examinations followed by online registration and document verification by KEA, Bangalore.

ADMISSION TO MD/MS

The admission under the General category will be on the basis of NEET PG ranking. The centralized counseling will be conducted by the Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA).
