On 15 July 1941, a great expectation of the people living North of Beadon Street was fulfilled with the foundation of Maharaja Manindra Chandra College at 20, Ramkanto Bose Street, Kolkata-700003. It had been possible due to the drive and initiative of some spirit of Dr. Panchanan Neogi I.E.S (Retd.), a well-known educationist of the time, and the benevolence of Maharaja Sris Chandra Nandi of Cossimbazar. The genesis of the college may be traced to a public meeting held on December 15, 1940, at 44/A, New Shyambazar Street. A resolution was adopted in that meeting to the effect that an Arts, Science, and commerce college be opened in memory of the illustrious Maharaja Manindra Chandra Nandi of Cossimbazar at 20, Ramakanto Bose Street, Kolkata. His son Hon’ble Maharaja Sris Chandra Nandi kindly consented to hand over the premises to the proposed Governing Body of the College.

The college offers both general and honors UG courses in the science, commerce, and arts streams. The admission process at Mahadevananda Mahavidyalaya is done through online mode. Interested and eligible candidates are required to submit their application form.
A candidate who passed the Higher Secondary or its equivalent Examination (10+2 level) in or after 2020 is eligible to apply for admission to the undergraduate courses.
A candidate must have passed in English (full marks not less than 100) in the previous qualifying examination to apply for B. A / B.Sc./B.Com courses.
Admission will be conducted strictly on the basis of merit. The subject-wise merit lists will be prepared based on corresponding INDEX MARK for all categories of students.
