Maharajah's College shortly M. R. College is one of the oldest colleges in India. This glorious institution founded by Sri Pusapati Vijaya Rama Gajapathi Raj-III, the then Maharajh of Vijayanagaram princely state, has its roots in the Middle-school started in the year 1857. It is later branched out as a High-school in 1868 and finally blossomed into a fully-fledged college in the year 1879.
Located in the royal city of Vijayanagara, Andhra-Pradesh, Maharajah College stands tall for its glorious history and succeeding years dedicated to the fortification of society through education. Its unprecedented years in education have catered to the basic constitutional need of education for downtrodden and weaker sections of society. Today, the institute has bagged a B grade from NAAC through the devoted efforts of its managing society, faculties, and students.
Maharajah's College, Vizianagaram is approved by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) and affiliated with Andhra University.
Maharajah's College, Vizianagaram courses are offered at various levels like Undergraduate Degrees i.e Bachelor of Science Honours (B.Sc. Hons.) Agriculture, Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) The Maharajah's College is spread over 17.93 Acres of land hosting six buildings with a construction area of 115,307 sq ft (10,712.4 m2). There are 51 classrooms, 21 laboratories, and 10 staff rooms. There is a central library and 14 other departmental libraries. The central library hosts more than 50,000 books and 10 computers connected to the Internet. There are two Seminar halls and a Health center. There is a boys' hostel on the campus. There is a sprawling playground with facilities for Volley Ball, Basket Ball, Kabaddi, Kho-Kho, Ball Badminton, Tennis, Cricket, Foot Ball, and Hockey. There are facilities for Indoor games and a Gymnasium. There is an Andhra Bank branch on campus serving the needs of the staff and students.
