Maharani Kasiswari College is a premier degree course college for girls with a great mission and vision. This college came into existence when in 1964, according to the direction of UGC, Manindra Chandra College was split up into three units - Morning, Day, and Evening, with separate affiliations under CU.

Infrastructure and Facilities

The college starts at 6.30 A.M. Classes are held in three buildings, viz. The main building, Annexe building, and New building. Modern teaching techniques are employed. The college has two well-stocked Libraries Several Departmental Libraries and one Book Bank (NSS). The college office is computerized. All of the Academic and Office staff are committed to their profession.

However, infrastructure alone does not mean good education. It is a commitment to education and a combination of good teachers and good pupils that generates Excellence.

Library:

Students may borrow books from the library without any charge or deposit for use in the Reading Room during college hours; but they must not remove these books from the Library and must return them on the same day, failing which they will be fined for the extra days. Books taken out for home study must be returned within 14 days. Students failing to do so are liable to be fined and no book will be issued to them again without the permission of the librarian. The library presently has a collection of about 27,000 books and subscribes to 15 periodicals. All students have open access to the Library book stack.

Laboratories:

The college provides well-equipped laboratories – for Computer Science and IT, for Food & Nutrition, for Geography and Psychology courses.

Gym:

The institution offers fitness schedules for its students in its in-house gymnasium. A major revamping of the facility is underway. It will provide a multipurpose athletic facility for the students.

Sports Complex:

Every year annual outdoor sports of the college are held successfully with the eager participation of students, teachers, and non-teaching staff of the college, and prizes are awarded. The college encourages its students to participate in several state-level competitions, inter-college, and inter- University Tournaments and National Games.

Smart Class:

Seminars are organized by different Departments regularly in the college with the active participation of teachers and students. Arrangements are made for extension lectures in different subjects by eminent scholars. Workshops are arranged as part of placement counseling of students.

Admission

All admissions are strictly provisional and subjected to final scrutiny and acceptance by the appropriate authorities including Calcutta University by way of issuing of Registration Certificate.

The admission process will be conducted through an online process only from 27/05/2019 to 05/06/2019. No offline requests will be sent

Separate application forms must be submitted for seeking admission to each combination of subjects.

The college does not accept responsibility for cancellation of admission due to suppression or false statement of facts by students at the time of filling up of Online Application form. The college will not be held responsible for the cancellation of admission for any reason whatsoever by Calcutta University.

The name in the merit List does not guarantee admission. Admissions will stand closed once the total number of seats available in the college/subject is filled up.

Merit List will be prepared based on marks as submitted through the online process by the candidates.

Extreme care is taken while preparing the Merit list, but in the event of any inadvertent mistake or omission, the college will not be responsible in any way. However, any error/omission may be brought to the notice of the Admission Committee/Principal in writing

Admission will be completed after payment of prescribed Admission Fees based on the Merit List, subject to the availability of seats in every respective subject.

Reservation in SC/ST/OBC/PH categories would be followed as per university rules. SC/ST/OBC candidates from states other than West Bengal are eligible only to apply under the General category.
