The university was established on 3 June 1998 by the state Government of Maharashtra through an ordinance. The State Legislature passed the ordinance and the Maharashtra University of Health Sciences was declared open by the governor of Maharashtra on June 10, 1998. All colleges and institutions imparting education in health science in the state of Maharashtra have been affiliated to this new university under Section 6(3) of the Act
The Maharashtra University of Health Sciences, Nashik was established on the 3rd of June 1998. This was accomplished by promulgating 1998's Maharashtra University of Health Sciences Act. The Maharashtra University of Health Sciences, (MUHS), is a state-funded institution that provides quality education in health sciences. Its consistency in purpose, its mission and goal will undoubtedly help health science education to reach a high standard of excellence.
The University will be both a teaching and affiliated university. The university's purpose is to educate the youth to be law-abiding citizens, and to contribute to the development of the country. The university organizes yearly fests for the overall development and growth of the child. Students are also invited to participate on a large scale. The university encourages students to participate in extracurricular activities such as dancing, debate, and other sports.

Hostel
Both boys and girls can use the University's hostel facilities separately.

All water coolers on campus have RO plant purified water systems.
MUHS offers many other services, including Internship Cell, Sports Coaching, Food and Catering Services, in addition to the previously mentioned facilities.
The University offers scholarships to students who are part of the reservation quota or come from economically poor backgrounds. Students from reservation categories who score 75% or more in Higher Secondary Examinations are eligible to receive a scholarship. Students with disabilities can also receive financial aid from the university. MUHS also sponsors a scholarship through the Sports Quota.
All UG and PG courses are admitted to MUHS based on passing the appropriate entrance exam. Each university has its own entrance examination for admission to UG, PG, or Research courses. The MUHS-CET scores are used to select the candidates.
MUHS admits to the BDS/MBBS, MBBS and BHMS programs based on scores in the NEETUG entrance exam. Admissions to MDS/MS and MD/MS are based on scores in entrance exams such as NEET MD/MS and AIAPGET.
Candidates must pass the university-based Ph.D. exam to be admitted to the Ph.D. programs at MUHS. Entrance Test, i.e. MUHS-PET. The university will accept M.Phil students who have passed the qualifying exam.
To establish as a preferred institute known for imparting quality education in India and abroad. To establish as a majour institute affiliated to MUHS for conducting University approved Fellowship and PG programmes.
