Mahatma Gandhi Antarrashtriya Hindi Vishwavidyalaya, Wardha is a Central University established by Parliament of India by an Act No. 3 of 1997. It is located at Wardha, Maharashtra. It is 70 kms. away from Nagpur. Sevagram and Wardha are two near railways station.
The Mahatma Gandhi University was created by an Act passed by the Indian Parliament in 1997.Section-3 of the Act mandates special and unique responsibility to the University to enrich the Hindi language and literature by teaching and research and make it capable of becoming a World language in the real sense of the term. Since 1997 the University is functioning as a residential University solely dedicated to the cause of Hindi. Spread over an area of more than two hundred acres, the fast-coming University buildings are a pleasant blend of aesthetics and functional utility.
Mahatma Gandhi, Hindi, and International are three key words that are integrally woven into the philosophy guiding the functioning of the institution. It has initiated academic programs in areas that were important in Gandhi's socio-political agenda such as Non-Violence, Peace and Conflict Resolution, Women's Studies, and Tribal and Dalit Studies. To provide Hindi, the tools necessary to become a language of serious study and research, many disciplines of knowledge are being taught in Hindi and efforts are on to produce standard textbooks and other reading material in the language. The University has also undertaken an ambitious project to publish an Encyclopaedia of Social Sciences in Hindi. It is expected that in the next few years, this project will see the light of the day. To fulfil its international commitments the University is offering its services to the Hindi Departments across the globe. It is coordinating international efforts in areas like syllabus development, content creation, and audio-visual aids to students who study Hindi as a foreign language.
The College is approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), NAAC, and A Central University established by an Act of Parliament.

Admission to each course is via an entrance exam conducted by the institute. Applicants may apply online as well as offline by paying the application fee charged by the university. Shortlisted candidates on the basis of marks obtained in the CUET exam are called for admission.
It has been a fervent desire of the national leaders and Hindi lovers that Hindi should take its rightful place on the international stage of the United Nations Organization as a medium of expression of the feelings and thoughts of Indians. On the other hand, he also thought that an International Secretariat of Hindi should be established for coordinating the linguistic exchanges between persons of Indian origin spread not only abroad but all over the world.
