Maneklal Nanavati Law College ranks among one of the premier institutions of the Gujarat Law Society located at Lal Darwaja, the centre of the city of Ahmedabad. In June 1961, the College was inaugurated by the first Chief Justice of the High Court of Gujarat, Hon’ble Mr. Justice K. T. Desai. The College was the third Law College established by the Gujarat Law Society in order to cater the need of the society. The College was the only afternoon Law College of the Gujarat Law Society at the time of its establishment. Initially, the College was named as the “New Law College”.

Initially the College was named as the “New Law College”.In the year 1976, the name of the College was changed as “Maneklal Nanavati Law College” from the name of advocate shri Maneklal Nanavati. Late Shri Maneklal Nanavati was an eminent lawyer of the State of Gujarat, started his practice from a small village of Gujarat, Jambusar. To spread legal knowledge and develop legal research culture among society is the aim of the College with the motto “Lux gentium lex” i.e. “Law is the light of the nations”.
Maneklal Nanavati Law College courses are offered at various levels like Undergraduate Degrees i.e Bachelor of Laws (LLB) etc., Postgraduate Degree i.e Post Graduate Diploma in Taxation and many more. The College has a very spacious Library room having a collection of more than 10,000 Law books and reference books, Law Journals, encyclopedias and Magazines. The Library is equipped with a computer and internet facility as well as the AIR Case Finder software for perusing the judgments of the Supreme Court. The Library is having facility for research work. The Library is partially computerized with the ‘College’ version of Soul Software of INFLIBNET. The Library remains open to all its users from 12-00 p.m. to 7-00 p.m. on weekdays. The library room located on the first floor of the College building with sufficient seating accommodation provides optimum conditions for its users.
