The college is run by the Society of the Franciscan Missionaries of Mary, a Catholic religious congregation founded by Blessed Mary of the Passion, in Ootacamund, in 1877.
The Collegio Maris Stella is an autonomous institution managed by the religious Congregation of the Franciscan Missionaries of Mary. True to its vision and mission, the College provides quality education and consistently maintains high academic standards in an effort to give all students an equal opportunity for learning and development through holistic education which is strongly grounded in values.

Residential Accommodation
The hostel is in the campus.32 living rooms can accommodate 5 students in each bedroom, equipped with a desk, chair and wardrobe. There are sufficient toilets, bathrooms and sinks with running water. There are two dining rooms and a modern kitchen. There is a beautiful chapel also in campus to meet the spiritual needs of the inmates
The Library
Maris Stella College, Vijayawada has its excellently equipped library housed in a second-storeyed building. It is well-ventilated and furnished with a pleasant academic environment. The library has a collection of over 10,000 books, over 100 journals, over 500 memoirs, and 4,000 back issues of magazines and CDs and DVDs.
Computer Lab
The requirement of the day is computer Education. Our computer lab has 49 systems and provides knowledge and experience to our students all the time. The lab is open even after college hours providing opportunities for interested learners to practice and become masters in computer operations. Students utilise the Internet facility to download and prepare for their teaching practicals and use the Net for Powerpoint preparation.
Canteen
This place is very convenient for all students to relax a bit. Not only delicious snacks but also stationery and other personal items are available here.
Maris Stella College, Vijayawada accepts admission through various entrance exams like Common Entrance Exam.
Three categories of scholarships are extended to students from the government of Andhra Pradesh, the government of India and merit scholarships.
