MEENAKSHI AMMAL ARTS AND SCIENCE COLLEGE is a private, unaided co-education Institution approved by the Government of Tamil Nadu and affiliated with the University of Madras. It was established in 2001 and is governed by Meenakshi Ammal Trust, a Public Charitable and Educational Trust. It is the Founder Chairperson Tmt. D. Meenakshi Ammal, a philanthropist who wanted the socio-economically backward students residing in and around Uthiramerur to have access to quality education. The College offers eight undergraduate courses and one postgraduate course in Commerce.

The primary aim of the College is to provide students with a conducive learning environment, to help them kindle their skills, develop their full academic potential, and to equip themselves fully to face the challenges of the highly competitive world.

The College library functions in an exclusive two-storied building with amazing infrastructural facilities. A good collection of books and journals (Indian and Foreign) on each and every discipline offered is a standing testimony to it. In addition, reference books, periodicals, magazines, back volumes, thesis reports, etc are also available. The operations of the library are computerized. Book bank facilities are also available for economically backward students such as SC/ST students under government-aided schemes.

A fully air-conditioned computer laboratory is equipped with high-end branded computers and widescreen 17" TFT monitors with The Students machine ratio of 1:1 implying complete accessibility. It is networked and supported by online UPS systems with a backup facility. SECE is a fully wired campus and consists of a high-speed fiber-optic backbone connected to the internal network through a high-end gigabit Ethernet switch. A canteen is functioning within the premises of the college to serve hygienically prepared food to the staff and students. A subsidized mess is also operative on the campus. Separate hostel accommodation for girls and boys is available. The lady's hostel houses around 240 girls. It has an independent kitchen, mess, health equipment, common room with telephone facilities, etc., The gent's hostel accommodates up to 600 boys with a separate mess. Considerable stress is laid on a clean environment. The hostel provides hygienic and quality food to suit diverse tastes and preferences. A comfortable mess hall has also been provided. The hostel rooms are provided with tables, chairs, cupboards, beds, a common bath, and hot water facilities. The other common facilities include the availability of telephone and television.
