Midnapore Medical College and Hospital is a full-fledged state medical college with an emphasis on higher education. It was founded in 2004. The university awards bachelor's degrees in medicine and surgery as well as master's and habilitation degrees. There are also training courses in nursing and paramedical assistance. 

Midnapore Medical College and Hospital was founded in 2004. Previously the college was known as Midnapur Sadar Hospital, West Midnapur but in order to provide medical education to the younger generation the West Bengal government changed its name. The College is accredited by the Indian Government's Medical Council of India in New Delhi. Midnapore Medical College and Hospital is affiliated with the West Bengal University of Health Sciences and offers undergraduate courses in medical sciences.
