The National Institute of Siddha offers a postgraduate program, M.D Siddha, with a duration of 3 years. Siddha graduates with a B.S M.S Degree are eligible to apply for this program.

Selection Criteria

Selection is based on the candidates' rank in the All India AYUSH PG Entrance Examination (AIAPGET) conducted by the Ministry of AYUSH, followed by counseling held in this Institute.

Eligibility Criteria

Candidates with an M.D (Siddha) qualification are eligible to apply for the Ph.D program. Selection is based on the availability of a guide and the number of candidates for whom each guide could provide service.

Selection Criteria

Admission to the Ph.D program is granted based on the performance in the Entrance Examination conducted by the National Institute of Siddha.

NIS, Chennai Admission Of Foreign Candidates

Reserved Seat for Foreign Candidates

Out of the 46 seats available in the MD (Siddha) course, one seat is reserved for candidates from foreign countries. Foreign candidates who hold a Bachelor of Siddha Medicine and Surgery (B.S.M.S) degree or an equivalent degree approved by the Central Council of Indian Medicine (CCIM) are eligible to apply.

Application Process

Foreign candidates must submit their applications to the Indian Embassies in their respective countries. The Indian Embassies will then forward the applications to the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) in New Delhi. Subsequently, the ICCR will forward the applications to the National Institute of Siddha, Chennai for consideration for admission to the MD (Siddha) degree course.

Eligibility Certificate

Foreign candidates seeking admission must submit their applications, along with all original documents, to The Registrar, The Tamil Nadu Dr. M.G.R Medical University, Guindy, Chennai – 600 032. This is to obtain an Eligibility Certificate from the University.

Allocation of Seats

1. Foreign Candidate Seat: One seat out of the total seats is allocated for a foreign candidate on a rotational basis to one of the eight specialties every academic year. If the seat remains vacant until one day before the cut-off date, it will be filled from the general category based on merit.

2. Reserved Seats: In the remaining seats, 15% are reserved for natural-born SC candidates, 7.5% for natural-born ST candidates, and 27% for OBC candidates. For OBC candidates, a certificate of OBC status and exclusion from the creamy layer for the year 2017-18 should be produced as per the Government of India notification issued from time to time.

3. Unfilled ST Category Seat: If the seat reserved for the ST category remains unfilled due to the non-availability of eligible candidates, it will be filled by the candidates belonging to the SC category based on their merit.
