National Institute of Siddha Hostels

Boys Hostel:

The college offers a boys' hostel facility with accommodation for male students enrolled in the three-year course. Admission of PG students is based on annual approval from the Ministry of AYUSH. The hostel, located within the campus, accommodates 26 students separately. Deputy Hostel Wardens oversee student welfare and hostel amenities.

Girls Hostel:

Similarly, the college provides a girls' hostel facility for female students enrolled in the three-year course. Admission of PG students is contingent upon annual approval from the Ministry of AYUSH. The hostel, situated within the campus, can accommodate 71 students separately. Deputy Hostel Wardens are responsible for overseeing student well-being and hostel facilities.

National Institute of Siddha Medical/Hospital

The National Institute of Siddha's Ayothidoss Pandithar Hospital, affiliated with the institute, serves the public and provides clinical training to postgraduates. The outpatient department (OPD) and inpatient department (IPD) operate with a capacity of 200 beds, functioning every day of the year. Additionally, the institute conducts five outreach OPDs in various semi-urban and rural areas around Chennai. The hospital is well-equipped with facilities such as ultrasound (USG), pulmonary function testing (PFT), electrocardiogram (ECG), X-ray, biochemistry, microbiology, pathology laboratories, and a Siddha pharmacology laboratory. These facilities support the provision of quality healthcare services and facilitate research activities within the institute.

National Institute of Siddha Library

The library at the National Institute of Siddha offers a range of services to users, including a Reading Room, Lending, Reference, Referral, Reprographic, Online (OPAC), Internet, and Documentation services. Its primary mission is to support the research activities of the institute by providing both physical and intellectual access to information. The library operates from Monday to Friday, from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., and on Saturdays from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., ensuring ample access to resources for users during convenient hours.

National Institute of Siddha Cafeteria

The hospital at the National Institute of Siddha operates a canteen under contract, offering dietary services to patients and staff. From 7:00 AM to 8:00 PM, the canteen provides wholesome vegetarian meals to staff, visitors, and in-patients. For in-patients, food distribution is managed by the canteen staff, who deliver general diets in large stainless steel containers and special diets in separate stainless steel Tiffin carriers tailored to each patient's needs. The distribution and supervision of therapeutic diets are overseen by staff nurses within the wards, ensuring that dietary requirements are met effectively.

National Institute of Siddha Auditorium

The National Institute of Siddha boasts a modern Auditorium situated on its campus, equipped with cutting-edge facilities to accommodate up to 160 individuals. This centrally air-conditioned auditorium is supported by a power backup generator set, ensuring uninterrupted events. Featuring a spacious stage suitable for large-screen projections and LCD facilities, as well as the latest sound systems, the auditorium provides an immersive experience for attendees. With a slanting seat arrangement for optimal viewing, it ensures comfort and convenience for both staff and public audiences. Additionally, the Institute offers the rental of its auditorium for hosting a variety of events such as seminars, conferences, workshops, and cultural events.

National Institute of Siddha Museum

Established in 2010, the museum at the National Institute of Siddha (NIS) serves as a platform to showcase the heritage and significance of the Siddha system of medicine to both the public and the scientific community. With a diverse collection of 261 raw drug specimens sourced from plant, animal, and mineral origins, the museum plays a crucial role in drug identification and serves as a valuable reference for Siddha students and the general public. Additionally, the museum houses a range of Siddha-specific artifacts, including palm leaf manuscripts (Maruthuva kurippu olaichuvadigal) and antique tools utilized by ancient Siddha practitioners, such as Marauri (bark of a tree), Neem tree plate, Kalvam, Marauzhakku, and more. Visitors can also explore miniature models of earthen Siddha medicine preparation instruments, such as Avienthiram, Mezhugu thaila thiram, Kuzhi thaila Karuvi, Thula enthiram, and others, offering insights into traditional medicinal practices.

National Institute of Siddha Herbal Garden

Located amidst the serene environs of Tambaram Sanatorium, the National Institute of Siddha boasts a meticulously constructed greenhouse dedicated to cultivating 250 medicinal plants. This greenhouse serves as a vital resource for plant identification, educational purposes, and conservation efforts. Adjacent to the InPatient Hospital, the institute features an expansive medicinal garden spread across 1000 sq.m, showcasing around 150 medicinal trees and shrubs. Furthermore, the campus itself is adorned with approximately 90 medicinal trees, providing an immersive learning experience for postgraduate Siddha students and academic researchers alike.
