Model Polytechnic College Painavu is running under the Institute of Human Resource Development established by the Government of Kerala. The college offers three years of Diploma courses in the field of Computer Hardware Engineering, Computer Engineering, Bio-Medical Engineering, and Electronics & Communication Engineering. These courses are affiliated to the Directorate of Technical Education, Kerala, and approved by the All India Council For Technical Education (AICTE). All the courses have been tailored to suit extreme industry requirements. The college aims at making the students technically competent and socially committed with a strong base of sound professional ethics so as to make them better citizens of tomorrow. Model Polytechnic, Painavu molds the students in such a way as to launch them confidently into the 21st century, an era of information technology. The Library carries a full range of materials to support the curriculum and the lifelong learning needs of our students, staff, and community members. More than 8500 titles of technical books are available in this library. The Library's mission statement reads as follows: The mission of the Library is to support student learning and excellence in teaching, provide access to learning resources in all formats, assist students in locating and evaluating information, and encourage lifelong learning.

Men's Hostel:

The campus hostel is taken care of by our Government. There is telephonic access to all students but the mobile phone is banned as it is in the College. Affectionate discipline, tasty food at moderate rates, and neat rooms with modern sanitation and professional laundry services are the hallmarks of the Polytechnic hostels.

Co-Operative Store:

There is a co-operative store in the campus run by the Co-operative Society. All the staff and students are members of the society. The profit is shared with the members and so materials are sold at rates lower than the market rates. It provides various stationery items, notebooks, practical record books, assignment books, textbooks, and various application forms to the students of the college at lower prices. It produces and supplies notebooks and assignment books bearing the name of the college. The store is open on all working days, throughout the working time of the college.

College Canteen:

Canteens and cafeterias are one of important parts of student life where you can find most of the students chatting and gossiping about different topics. It plays a vital role in removing tensions and refreshing students. The college canteen provides enough delicious food at affordable rates. GPC Muttom has the facility of clean and hygienic canteen that caters to the taste of all students. The canteen remains open on all working days. It provides all types of nutritious and hygienic eatables and beverages to cater to students, staff, and visitors. The Institute helps each student in exploring placement opportunities by inviting various companies for campus recruitment of students who are in the final year of the program and are likely to Diploma graduate at the end of the academic year.

The final placements, in the Institute, are the result of very systematic interaction with the industry and continuous career counseling of the students. Right from the beginning of the program, students are continuously counseled with regard to his/her career aspirations and options, which in turn is vigorously followed up with the potential companies for participating in the placement program of the Institute.
