Established in 1953, Mount Carmel College of Teacher Education for Women is the first aid training school for women in Kerala. It is administered by the Carmelite Sisters of St. Teresa Institute in Ernakulam and is affiliated with Mahatma Gandhi University in Kottayam. The authorized student body of the college consists of 50 people. Accredited by the NAAC in 2000, the institute was re-accredited with an “A” rating. 

Mount Carmel College of Teacher Education for Women, formerly known as Mount Carmel Training College, is part of the CSST Institute founded in 1887 by Mother Teresa of Santa Rosa de Lima. Driven by the vision that the education and enlightenment of women are vital to the progress and well-being of society, Mother Teresa worked with dedication and enthusiasm to empower women by opening schools and colleges for them. Mother Véronique, the first general mother of the C.S.S.T., is very interested in promoting higher education and in training, teachers committed to the integral development of students. The institute has started a project to set up a teacher training center for women.

Our college has a spacious and impressive lecture hall that can accommodate 1000 people at a time.
