Mrinalini Datta Mahavidyapith, a co-educational Degree College, was established on 5 March 1964 by Birati Siksha Samsad to cater primarily to the students coming from middle-class and financially backward families of Birati and its adjacent rural and semi-urban areas. The college was affiliated with the University of Calcutta since its establishment and then came under the affiliation of West Bengal State University, Barasat, North 24 Parganas from the session 2007-08. The main objective of the college is to provide quality higher education and achieve academic excellence.

Library:

The college has a rich central library of an area of 6000 square feet stocked with books, reference books, and journals and periodic. Another library has been set up in the new building for the PG students of the Departments of Bengali, Education, and Commerce. There are also Departmental Libraries for each department with all the necessary facilities. This library is a member of "National Library and Information Services Infrastructure for Scholarly Content (N-LIST)" and all our faculties including students can access 6000+ e-journals and 1,99,500 e-books and 600,000 e-books through NDL.

Canteen:

Our cozy college canteen is the preferred hangout of the students. It is the ideal place for not just physical refreshment but also for student bonding, discussions, debates, and even projects and assignments. The canteen serves a variety of good quality foods and snack items at subsidized rates. It is blessed with a family atmosphere, touched with homemade flavor, cooked with care, and served with courtesy. The kitchen is equipped with electrical automatic cooking and storage facility. All food is prepared using RO-treated drinking water. And there is also a water cooler.

Health Care:

In case of illness, students can avail themselves of facilities like a consultation with general physicians as well as specialist doctors in Eye, ENT, Medicine, Skin, Orthopaedics, Psychiatry, Gynaecology, Cardiology, etc. at absolutely free of cost. Students can get medicines and undergo diagnostic procedures like X-Ray, ECG, EEG, Physiotherapy, Pathology test, Spectacles, Minor surgery (OPD), Injection, Tooth extraction, etc. at nominal charges (as low as Rs.2/-). Every student of the college has been covered under the Safety Insurance scheme that provides insurance to students in case of accidents, death, etc. against an annual payment of Rs.10/- only.

The college administration believes in transparency and concentrates on running the whole admission process with sincerity. Our college played a pioneering role in introducing online admission and is successfully running the system since the year 2012.
