It has been recognized by the ministry as a center of excellence in environmental economics Environment, Forests, and Climate Change, and as the Envis Center of the Ministry. In recognizing his academic services over the past 25 years, the government of Tamil Nadu has accepted the status of Institute of Special Importance for MSEs from April 1, 2021.

As per law, Universities do not require AICTE approval. Only institutions which are affiliated to Universities require approval.
