Nabagram Hiralal Paul College is one of the largest constituent colleges of the University of Calcutta. The college was founded by the Late Hiralal Paul, who spent his magnificent life emphasizing the importance of knowledge, on 3rd, February 1957. Nabagram Hiralal Paul College is a premier institution dedicated to teaching and research. It has highly qualified academicians who impart education in Science, Commerce, and Arts at Undergraduate and Post-Graduate levels to more than 3500 students. Infrastructure and Facilities

Library:

The college has a central library, containing up-to-date texts & journals. Books are issued to the students as per the rules and regulations of the library. At a time two books may be issued in the home lending section to Honours students and one to the General Degree students. Books borrowed by the students must be returned to the library within the specified date failing which not only fines may be charged but also disciplinary measures may be taken against the student concerned. Cutting off pages from a book, and disfiguring or damaging books are serious offenses and shall be severely dealt with which may go up to the extent of expulsion from the college. Defaulters of tuition fees are not allowed to borrow books. Perfect silence must be maintained in the reading room of the library. At the end of the academic session, every student is required to obtain the library clearance certificate from the Librarian. This certificate must be produced to the college office without which Final Examination Forms will not be issued to the student(s) concerned.

Canteen:

Good food, snacks, and tea are supplied to the students at subsidized rates from the students’ canteen.

Common Room:

The college provides separate Girls’ and Boys’ Common Rooms with indoor game facilities.

Auditorium:

The college has an auditorium facility for events and seminars.

Admission

A candidate should have 30% marks in aggregate in 12th for admission in B.A/B.Sc/B.Com General Courses.

For Honors courses, a candidate should have a minimum of 50% marks aggregate and 45% marks in the respective subject in the qualifying examination.

A candidate with 55% marks in the respective subject and 45% marks in the aggregate in the qualifying examination is also eligible for applying for honor courses.
