The National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research (NIPER) is the first Institute of its kind to be set up in the State of Bihar in the year 2007. It is an autonomous institution of national importance, established under the aegis of the Department of Pharmaceuticals, Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers, Govt. of India under the NIPER Act 1998 at Hajipur in Vaishali District of Bihar. It is a center of excellence for higher education, research, and development in pharmaceutical sciences, conceived to provide leadership in pharmaceutical sciences and other related areas.

Till the academic year 2020-21, the Institute had three departments- Pharmacology and Toxicology, Biotechnology, and Pharmacy Practice, and it offered Ph.D. in all three disciplines. It offered M.S. (Pharm.) in Biotechnology and Pharmacology and Toxicology, and M.Pharm. degree in Pharmacy Practice. Two new departments, namely Pharmaceutics and Pharmaceutical Analysis, have been initiated from the academic year 2021- 22, which started offering both M.S.(Pharm.) and Ph.D. courses in these new disciplines also.

The College is approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), PCI.

The College offers M.S.(Pharm) in Biotechnology, Pharmaco-informatics, and Pharmacy Practice.

Infrastructure and facilities :

Hostels:

The college has a highly sophisticated hostel room. A recreation hall for the hostel students is also available. Students in the Hostel can make use of the Telephone facility for communication purposes. Hostels are provided based on the availability of rooms including shared accommodation

The college provides computer labs for the students so that they can get hands-on knowledge of the theoretical concepts that they have studied in class

Admission

Admissions at the National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research, Vaishali is entrance-based. Students are required to qualify for the NIPER JEE examination. The entrance exam is both for the PG and Doctoral programs. The final selection of the student is done only after the counseling/ interview round.
