National Power Training Institute (NPTI) has been set up by the Government of India under the Ministry of Power, to function as the National Apex Body for Human Resources Development of the Indian Power Sector. NPTI (Eastern Region), Durgapur is one of the nine Regional Institutes of NPTI established in 1968. The Corporate Office of NPTI is located at NPTI Complex, Sector –33, Faridabad – 121 003 (Haryana), and other regional institutes are located at Neyveli (Tamilnadu), Badarpur (New Delhi), Nagpur (Maharashtra), Guwahati (Assam), Nangal (Punjab), Faridabad (Haryana) and Bengaluru (Karnataka). NPTI’s institutes are fully equipped with the latest state-of-the-art training infrastructure and also expert faculty with long years of professional and teaching experience with adequate research and development exposure. These Institutes are conducting a number of training programs for Power Engineers, Operators, and Technicians in the areas of Thermal and Hydro Power Generation, Transmission & Distribution Systems,s and other related areas.

Courses Offered

National Power Training Institute (NPTI, Durgapur) NPTI courses are offered at various levels like Diploma Degrees i.e. Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech.) in Power Engineering, etc. You can also find a brief overview of the different courses offered by the university across various disciplines with their specializations on the Course page.

The College has a boys’ and girls' hostel facility Hostels are available at NPTI (ER) to accommodate about 400 trainees. Those desirous of availing the hostel facilities will have to intimate in advance to obtain confirmation for the same. In case a participant does not stay in the hostel, he has to make his own arrangements to reach the Institute. Canteen facilities are also available in the Hostels. Recreation and indoor sports facilities like Table Tennis, Badminton, Carom, Chess, etc. are available for trainees in Hostel, creating a congenial atmosphere of a Home away from Home. The hostel accommodation is provided to the trainees only for the period of the training course.

Library:

NPTI (ER) has been the lifeline for the Training & Academic activities of the institute. It has a huge collection of books on engineering, science, and technology, which collectively support teaching and learning programs at the institute. All students, faculty members, and employees of the institute are entitled to make use of the library facilities by taking library membership. NPTI(ER) Library subscribes to a number of Indian and foreign technical journals and periodicals.

Laboratories:

The laboratories and Workshops are the prerequisites for providing off-job, hands-on training in the maintenance aspects. The NPTI (ER) has built well-equipped laboratories and workshops with wide-ranging facilities for imparting training to Technicians, Operators, and Engineers, in various aspects of Power Stations. Some of the areas where expertise has been built up are.

Class Room:

Well-equipped Classrooms with AC, LCD projection system and OHP, etc for imparting formal, theoretical, and technical knowledge.

Conference Hall & Syndicate Room:

A conference hall (SIT Lab) with a seating capacity of 100 persons and a Syndicate Room with a seating capacity of 20 persons is also available.

OPEN LEARNING CENTER:

OLC (Open Learning Centre) is the infrastructural facility available at the Institute to help the trainee/trainer to go through the multimedia CBT packages at their own choice and pace without any help from the subject expert. The multimedia CBT packages developed by NPTI are being used by the Institute for training.

RECREATION HALL:

Currently, SIT Lab with a seating capacity of about 100 persons is being used for conducting Cultural Activities.
