National University of Study and Research in Law, Ranchi (NUSRL) was established by Act No. 4 of Jharkhand State Assembly in 2010. The University has subsequently been recognized by University Grants Commission (UGC) in September 2011 u/s 22, u/s 12B in the year 2018 of the UGC Act of 1956 and Bar Council of India (BCI). The University started functioning in September 2010. At present, the University has more than 600 students on rolls in the undergraduate course. The University has been included as member of the CLAT w.e.f. CLAT 2012. At the undergraduate level, University offers Five-year Integrated B.A. LL.B. (Hons.) degree Program which consists of ten semesters. The University also started its Research Program in January 2012. National University of Study and Research in Law is a National Law University located in Ranchi, Jharkhand, India. It was established by a legislative act, by the State of Jharkhand as the fourteenth National Law University of India.
NLU Ranchi (National University of Study and Research in Law) University is widely regarded as the most prestigious law institution in the state of Jharkhand and is poised to become a major national leader. The university was established with a small number of students and is striving to become a world-leading law school. The campus is in Ranchi NUSRL provides courses and seeks to educate pupils in Judicial Sciences. The school is highly sought-after among law students. In addition, the school every year has produced students who have been successful academically and in other areas as well.
It also houses a range of student associations which contribute to the general experience at the institution. The student associations at the university include ISBN NUSRL through the lenses of the Constitutional law Society and Society for International Law. In addition, the school has moot courts in which students have repeatedly demonstrated their expertise.
The campus of the university covers 67 acres. The campus is home to students. The campus is also filled with students from various parts of the United States. Additionally, the campus offers an overall atmosphere that is not just suitable to learn, but also ideal for the general development of students. The campus has facilities such as Blocks for academics, non-academic blocks and a library, a hostel as well as sports fields.
The university was acknowledged by the University Grants Commission (UGC) in September of 2011 under section 22 of the UGC Act of 1956. The university has also been approved by the Bar Council of India (BCI).
The school provides courses that are in line with the top law schools in India. The courses are carefully created to allow students to get an opportunity to experience the practical side of learning and also. The university offers courses at three levels: UG as well as PG and PhD. Furthermore, the courses offered include BA LLB, LLM (one year course) and Ph.D. courses.
The infrastructure directly at a glance can show the capabilities of the college. A well-constructed infrastructure, accompanied by a competent faculty and staff is the main necessity for a student. Furthermore, high-quality education and holistic learning is possible due to the abundance of facilities and infrastructure. Library
The library of the university is the primary source of knowledge within its premises. The library contains print periodicals, journals, books and more. Additionally, it houses many legal literature books. The school has the most comprehensive subscription to top-quality, selected journals, as well. Additionally, it has a top-quality CD-Rom database. It is also a component of Sodhganga, Vidyamitra, etc. To catalogue the library, it uses OPAC technology.
Sports
NUSRL offers sports because they are essential to the growth of the student. This is why students have the facilities on campus for playing games and similar activities. Additionally, sports like basketball, football, and cricket are well-known to students. Students in the past have taken part in numerous competitions organized by other colleges and received prizes and awards, as well, as gold and silver medals.
Hostel
NUSRL has hostel facilities for boys and girls separately. In addition, the hostels are clean, well-maintained and large. The hostel also has free space at the hostel. Facilities such as a mess and a dining space and recreational areas are also available in the hostel. In addition, Wi-Fi, Lan is also accessible in the hostel. The hostel has shared or single occupancy accommodation. The hostel follows strict rules to keep it disciplined and welcoming.
Gymnasium
The Gymnasium of the University is state-of-the-art and is referred to by the name "The Gymnasium". The gym is staffed by a coach who teaches students. Services like strength training and weight reduction programs as well as Nutritional counselling are offered in the Gym.
Other services Moot Court Wi-Fi, Moot Court, and First Aid are also available.
The university has an extremely active placement cell as well as an equally active internship unit. In addition, the university has a good experience of placing students in top organizations and law firms. The university also makes sure that students are accepted into fellowships that ensure students will be able to find a job upon successful complete the fellowship. In 2019, 27 students were offered jobs and the institute was offered 29 offers. Companies such as Wipro, Eastern Books company and law firms like Khaitan & Co. participated in the drive to pave the roads.
The admission process to NUSRL is made via CLA (COMMON LAW ADMISSION TEST) which you must learn to pass through self-study or by coaching. The test is based upon five topics that include General Knowledge, Reasoning, math, Legal Knowledge and English.
There shall be a warden in each Halls of Residence, herein after called HoR, appointed by the Vice Chancellor from time to time who shall submit periodical reports to the Chief Warden, if any, to be placed before the Committee of Wardens, if any or directly to the Campus Security & Disciplinary Committee. The Warden should present in the respective HoR at 10.30 pm to check the attendance and discipline of the students.
NUSRL has been established by an Act of the State Legislature prompted by the vision of the constitutional forefathers that the law, legal system and legal institutions have an overarching role for human, social, political and economic development of the nation. Law is one of the social processes having the maximum filtering capacity of societal processes is sinew for healthier growth of democracy and constitutional rule of law.
