November 13, 2006, the University Grant Commission accorded the Nava Nalanda Mahavihara, Nalanda the status of a Deemed to be University.
Nava Nalanda Mahavihara is considered to be one of the oldest universities in the nation. It was established in year 1951. It is situated in Nalanda, Bihar and additionally it is a deemed university. Nalanda was a place of learning and was the center of knowledge about religion. It was established between the fifth century BC until the 12th century AD in the ancient Magadha. Nalanda's name was believed to be originated of the word "nalam", or da nalanda which means the "provider of wisdom. In the reign of the king of the Gupta Empire named Zakraditya, an ancient Mahavihara was established in Nalanda. Nalanda was one the first institutions to be able to house across the globe.
Nava Nalanda Mahavihara ia approved by UGC (University Grant Comisson) and also ranked B for the Top private Institutions in ARIIA 2020 and Ranked as 61 for the best university in India (University) in NIRF 2020.
Courses offered by the university in diploma programs are like Certificate Courses in Pali or Certificate Course for Tibetan and Certificate Course in Chinese Certificate Course for Diploma in Pali Certificate Course for Diploma in Tibetan and Certificate Courses in Chinese. Undergraduate programs offer the following courses: B.A. (Hons.) (Hons.) Pali. Certain post graduate programs include Pali, Philosophy, Ancient History Culture & Archaeology, Tibetan Studies, Sanskrit, Hindi, English, Buddhist Studies. The topics of research programs include are Pali, Philosophy, Ancient History Culture & Archaeology, Tibetan Studies, Sanskrit, Hindi, English, Buddhist Studies, Chinese & Japanese.
Library
It is believed that the NNM Library is well organized with a vast collection of 60,000 titles, including several Xylographic Tibetan manuscripts and some rare manuscripts, as well as free books. It is located in the NNM Library is housed in an two-story structure that has 16 cubicles for research, with two huge halls. The library is in the process of becoming an automatic library.
Computer Lab
The biggest computer lab in Nava Nalanda Mahavihara (NNM) can accommodate 25 students. This Computer Lab is fully air-conditioned with the most modern technology including internet, audio-visual and Internet facilities.
Sports
Sports is an integral aspect of the University. Facilities are accessible in as well Indoor as well as Outdoor Games in the campus. According to the guidelines of the old Nava Nalanda Mahavihara (NNM) insists on and encourages students to take part in debates and elocutions regularly.
Hostel
The college has a hostel facility for students. It has 3 hostels available for students. The hostel is comprised of dining and kitchen areas together with water, electricity and other facilities.
Conference Room
The conference room at the college can hold many people. It is equipped with a projection screen that can be used for multimedia and is used for gatherings as well as other important events.
The scholarships are awarded according to merit.
Scholarship applications for foreign nationals are processed through the Indian Council for Culture Relations/Ministry for Human Resources Development (Department of Education), Government of India.

The prime objective of the ILI is to cultivate and promote the science of law and to contribute substantially in reforming the administration of justice, so as to meet the socio-economic aspirations and needs of the people through law and its instrumentalities. The Institute has achieved the place of a premier center of national & international legal research and studies.
