The Nehru Institution Group was established in 1968 in Kuniamuthur, Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu as a center of educational excellence to nurture, guide and ignite the spirit of the young minds of Tamil Nadu and Kerala. That was fifty years ago when educational opportunities were limited and information centers were underserved. Based on this philosophy, NGI was founded to serve students, particularly those from economically disadvantaged backgrounds, who are looking for lifelong learning paths with an academic and professional focus. Latinas, our founding President, left a lucrative Air Force job to pursue his dream of building a center of excellence in education. With a vision to found the Nehru Group of Institutions, he embarked on a mission and witnessed firsthand the hardships and challenges that unexpectedly came his way. His death in 2009 has placed the responsibility on the very capable shoulders of his children, the acting trustee av. Dr. PKrishna Das and CEO & Secretary Dr. Fr Krishna Kumar weathered the toughest storms and challenges, building walls and becoming challengers in the changing world of education. They firmly believed that their father's vision would come true and they would achieve university status without compromising on ethics and principles.

Class:

In NGI, many promising technocrats can study simultaneously in 460 classrooms. All classrooms on the NGI campus are spacious and designed to combine analysis with action and have built-in audiovisual aids for lectures and presentations, and most are air-conditioned amphitheaters.

Library:

The library is the soul of every institution. It is a center for the extraction, processing, storage, and dissemination of information to the user community, guided by the motto of knowledge building. NGI owns PK The Knowledge Fort, the central library that serves over 9,000 students and 450 faculty. The Central Library is one of the best college libraries in this part of the country in terms of size, architecture, resources, and ICT-enabled services. The library is in our T.M. Hostels:

NGI offers a separate hostel for boys and girls with excellent facilities on the college campus. We accommodate over 5,000 students and offer rooms with and without air conditioning. All hostels have large dining rooms and modern kitchens. Efficient waste disposal and sewage treatment plants protect the environment. All hostels are adequately powered by generator backup with 125 KVA generators and cable TV in each hostel. Vigilant guards and a tight security ensure a comfortable stay so students can focus on their studies.
